Although Mobvoi is one of the brands that has most recently entered the smartwatch market, it has managed to carve out a large niche in it thanks to the good performance of its watches, the Ticwatch. Not only because they are smart watches that have nothing to envy of those from big brands, but because of their good value for money. Therefore, today I want to talk to you about two of its most recent and complete models: Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra.

At the design level, there are some small differences that are obvious, such as the strap material being different. However, they have virtually the same screen size, which makes it harder to tell each one apart. One of the new features that Mobvoi has introduced in these two Ticwatches is the double screen they have. In addition to the AMOLED screen, the Ticwatch has an LCD or FSTN panel that acts as a low-consumption screen. That is, it allows you to save more battery, thus increasing the efficiency of the smartwatch.

Another important update that we see between the Ticwatch Pro 5 and the Pro 3 Ultra has to do with the processor. In both cases it is Snapdragon, only a more updated version in the Ticwatch Pro 5. Along these same lines we see the battery, which increases in capacity in the model 5 and, therefore, has more autonomy, other things being equal. And, when it comes to physical and health monitoring, we did not find major differences between the two.

We would have liked to see that the Ticwatch Pro 5 is also compatible with iPhones, although the truth is that it is an exclusive smartwatch for Androids. Perhaps this possibility of compatibility that we did see in the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra (although not in all cases) will be repeated in successive models, but this is not the case with the 5. However, the best way to analyze the performance of each smartwatch is comparing them in detail, let’s get to it!

The design remains continuous

Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Pro 3 Ultra

Aesthetically, the truth is that there are not many changes between the Ticwatch Pro 5 and the Pro 3 Ultra . Most significantly, the Pro 3 Ultra features a rubber strap, different from the solid silica gel strap found on the Pro 5, and that makes them look more different. In addition, the Ticwatch Pro 5 has aluminum in the case, something that the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra lacks and which also makes the 5 a few grams heavier.

If we see the screen, we see that the novelty that the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra brought with it is maintained in model 5. We are referring to the double screen with colored backlighting, which, in reality, is a low-consumption screen. Thus, both watches have a 1.4-inch AMOLED main screen, and a second LCD or FSTN screen. As for the main screen, both models have Corning Gorilla protective glass, although the Ticwatch Pro 5 screen has a higher resolution.

They maintain the operating system, but update the chip

Now that we have talked about the design, we are going to go on to break down both smartwatches internally. Mobvoi has kept Google’s Wear OS operating system on both models, but has changed the processor. Rather, he has updated it. The Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra has the Snapdragon Wear 4100 and Mobvoi dual processor system, while the Ticwatch Pro 5 has the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1.

According to the brand, the difference is that the Ticwatch Pro 5 is 50% more powerful and twice as fast thanks to this new processor. Among other things, it allows the Ticwatch Pro 5 to have twice the RAM memory and 4 times more ROM memory than its predecessor. Why this, if they share the same operating system? Simply because the Ticwatch Pro 5 runs the WearOS 3.5 version, while the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra continues with the WearOS 2 version.

Slight improvement in battery

Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra

Another aspect where we notice some difference, although it is not very pronounced, is in the capacity and duration of the battery. The Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra has a 577 mAh capacity battery, which translates to about 72 hours in smart mode. On the other hand, the Ticwatch Pro 5 increases the capacity to 628 mAh, and, consequently, works for up to 80 hours in smart mode. Of course, thanks to the double screen, the optimization of autonomy is really good. In what the brand calls “essential mode”, both have the same duration, approximately, about 45 days.

Are there differences in sports and health monitoring?

Really, few. Both the Ticwatch Pro 5 and the Pro 3 Ultra have more than 100 sports modes to measure their performance, among which we highlight cycling, hiking, athletics, climbing, high-intensity training or swimming activities. In this regard, it should be noted that both have a resistance level of IP68, which makes them resistant to both dust and water. Continuing with swimming, let us tell you that the Ticwatch Pro 5 has open water swim tracking, so we also know that it is resistant to approximately 50 meters.

Regarding health, the two smartwatches have sensors to measure heart rate, sleep quality, blood oxygen saturation, respiratory rate or stress level, among other aspects. In addition, they prepare daily reports with the main metrics to take into account. In this sense, the synchronization with the Mobvoi Health app is interesting, we find it very useful for carrying out a more exhaustive control, but it is only available with the Ticwatch Pro 5, because it is only compatible with the Wear OS 3 system. As a point of improvement , we would have liked to see that they also allow you to control the menstrual cycle.

Compatibility with other devices

Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra vs Pro 5

One of the doubts that usually arise when we consider which smartwatch to buy has to do with which devices it is compatible with. First of all, you should know that in both smartwatches there is the possibility of making contactless payments, because both are compatible with NFC technology. And, when it comes to connectivity, in both cases we find compatibility with WiFi and Bluetooth, in versions 5.2 and 5.0.

But what happens if we want to connect it with an iPhone? If you have the Ticwatch Pro 5, don’t try it, because it is only compatible with Android 8.0 or higher devices. On the other hand, the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra can connect with iOS and Android devices.

The Ticwatch Pro 5 has some additional sensor

We finish talking about the sensors integrated into the two smartwatches. Most are the same; in fact, they share the following: accelerometer, gyroscopic, HD PPG heart rate, SpO2, low latency, barometer. However, the Ticwatch Pro 5 also has a body temperature sensor and an additional compass. Not that it is something relevant, but we do know that the Pro 5 can give us more exact information by adding these sensors.

Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra: Which smartwatch do we choose?

Before deciding which of the two smartwatches is more interesting, you have to know the price difference between them, a very important factor. We assume that either of the two belongs to a fairly affordable range, especially if we compare them with other big brands on the market. Even so, the Ticwatch Pro 5 has a higher price, although it is true that it is more than justified.

Firstly, because it improves the processor compared to the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra. This improvement not only makes performance higher, but also has longer battery life, synchronization with a useful app like Mobvoi Health, and a few more sensors. Additionally, the Ticwatch Pro 5 is capable of tracking open water swimming, something the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra doesn’t do as accurately. The only thing we don’t like is that it is not compatible with iOS, an obstacle that will only be for those who have an iPhone.

In general, it seems to us that the Ticwatch Pro 5 is a big leap compared to the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra, above all, because it updates the version of the operating system, and this translates into multiple improvements. Now, we must recognize that the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra is a really economical smartwatch; so, if budget is important to you, it is a good option.

That said, the last word only depends on you, your preferences and your limitations.
