More size, more weight

Lenovo Tab M10 Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Tab A9

As we have anticipated in the introduction, the Lenovo Tab M10 plus has a 10.6-inch screen, compared to the 8.7 inches that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 has. A fairly considerable size difference in this type of device that also has another consequence, which is that the Samsung tablet is much lighter. Normally, this is not usually a decisive criterion, but it is important if you usually carry the tablet with you regularly, since the Samsung one is more comfortable because it is lighter.

In addition, the Lenovo screen has better resolution, something that is especially noticeable when reproducing images that have a lot of color contrast. The reproduction on the Lenovo tablet is more realistic than that of Samsung in that the colors are perceived more clearly. On the other hand, the Lenovo tablet can only be purchased in gray, while the Samsung one is available in gray, silver and navy blue. None of them include the pencil in their standard equipment, but it can be purchased separately. Of course, keep in mind that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 is not compatible with S-Pen, although you can equip it with other different pens.

Different processor, same performance?

After having analyzed the clearest aesthetic difference, we are going to talk about the “brain” of the tablets, their processor. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 has the MediaTek Helio G99 processor, while the Lenovo tablet has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. We must not forget that both are mid-range tablets, so it is logical that they do not include the most advanced processors of each one of the brands.

In fact, the performance of both processors is quite similar. If we had to choose, perhaps we would choose the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 because the processing speed is somewhat faster. However, we cannot say that there is a huge difference between the two. Additionally, both tablets are based on the Android operating system, although the latest version of the Galaxy Tab is Android 13, while Lenovo’s is Android 12. Although, to be completely honest, we hope Lenovo updates, too, coming soon.

Its storage capacity can be expanded

A question that is usually important for people who decide to buy a tablet is what capacity they have for storing documents. In this case, we find a tie, since both tablets have a capacity of 4 GB of RAM and between 64 and 128 GB of internal storage. Likewise, in both cases it can be expanded up to 1 TB thanks to the incorporation of a microSD card.

How long does your battery last?

Autonomy is another of the fundamental criteria to take into account when choosing a tablet. Mainly, for those who use it for work and often spend time away from home or for those who travel frequently. In this sense, the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus has a larger capacity battery, something that is not strange considering that it is a larger tablet.

The battery of the Lenovo tablet has 7700 mAh capacity, compared to the 5100 mAh that the Samsung tablet has. In practice, total autonomy depends on several factors and is not exact, but, all things being equal, the Lenovo tablet can last about 4-5 hours longer. Of course, both are compatible with a fast charging system.

What are the differences between the cameras of the two tablets?

As you know, current tablets incorporate two types of cameras, the front and the rear. And, in this case, it is once again Lenovo who takes the cake. The Lenovo Tab M10 Plus has both cameras with 8 MP resolution each. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 has an 8 MP rear camera, but the front camera is 2 MP. Of course, in its plus version, we do see that both cameras of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 are 8 MP, but in the standard version, no.

Connectivity, sensors and other features

Before finishing the comparison, we want to talk to you about the differences between both tablets in terms of connectivity, sensors and other technological features. Both the Samsung and Lenovo tablets are compatible with WiFi and Bluetooth, although the Samsung tablet supports a higher version of Bluetooth. On the other hand, they do not have NFC technology, although this is relatively common in tablets. When it comes to sensors, the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus has a few more sensors, but both are quite equal in this regard.

On the other hand, in both cases it is possible to divide the screen to display several contents at the same time, a function that we commonly know as a multitasking screen. In addition, it is worth highlighting some very interesting functions in the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus, such as the special reading mode, which makes it more comfortable for our eyes to read directly on the screen.

Which mid-range tablet is more interesting?

Now that you know what the most important differences and similarities are between the two tablets from Samsung and Lenovo, it’s time to choose which one we would choose. As we have said before, both have a similar price on Amazon, although the difference may increase or decrease depending on the seasonal offers made by each brand. However, we are looking at two mid-range tablets, that is clear.

On the one hand, the Lenovo tablet is larger, which makes it more comfortable to work with because it has more space on the screen, better resolution and its front camera has better quality, important if you usually make video calls. On the other hand, the Samsung tablet has a processor with slightly higher performance, and has a more updated version of the operating system.

Taking this into account, one of the most important decision criteria may be the use you are going to give to the tablet. If you are going to use it regularly for work, our recommendation would be to opt for Lenovo. On the other hand, if you are going to use it as an accessory, the Samsung one is more comfortable to transport. Even so, any of them offer really good value for money; Don’t forget that they belong to two of the most recognized brands in the tablet segment.
