Wireless headphones are an essential accessory for all those people who practice sports and need music, or for those who want to enjoy music in any situation in a comfortable and sensory way. Therefore, it is important to know what the differences are between the most advanced wireless headphones on the market. Today we show you a comparison between the AirPods Pro 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.

As you can see, both have the last name “Pro”, which tells us that we are dealing with two high-end models. Now, which of the two is more worth it? To verify this, we have compared their performance, the functionalities they offer and other relevant aspects such as the degree of resistance or compatibility. At a glance, it’s easy to tell which is which. The AirPods Pro 2 maintain the typical Apple aesthetic, its characteristic white color, as well as its temples. On the other hand, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro do not have temples and can be purchased in various colors.

The two headphones have active noise cancellation, ambient or transparency mode and a spatial or 360º audio system. As for equalization, there are slight nuances. The AirPods Pro 2 have a built-in adaptive equalization system, while on the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, it is possible to adjust the equalizer, but only through the app. The customization possibilities are incredible, but only through smartphones.

And, in this regard, it is worth noting that the AirPods Pro 2 are compatible with the latest versions of iOS, while the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are compatible with Android. But, so that you have a clearer and more informed idea, we are going to explain the most important differences in detail below.

Two very recognizable designs

AirPods Pro 2 vs Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

The design is the first thing we notice almost unconsciously, and, in this case, it is a very noticeable difference. The AirPods Pro 2 maintain Apple’s classic aesthetic, with white as the flag and very pronounced temples. In addition, it is possible to choose between 4 eartip sizes (XS, S, M and L), so you can choose the one that best suits the shape of your ear. The case, for its part, is also white and has MagSafe charging.

On the other hand , the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are available in three colors: graphite, white and purple. Particularly, we love the shade of purple that Samsung proposes, and we think it is a plus point due to its originality. The shape of the headphones is also different. In this case, they do not have temples, but the bulb is more voluminous. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro also have different sizes of ear tips to choose from, although there are 3, instead of 4. The case has a more square shape and is somewhat smaller than that of the AirPods, and also allows wireless charging.

Audio quality and sound adjustment

We now look at the internal performance of the two wireless headphones. In fact, both models offer excellent sound quality, achieving exceptional clarity in both high-pitched and low-pitched sounds, something that is usually more difficult. In this sense, both the AirPods Pro 2 and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro integrate 3 microphones in each earphone, two external and one internal. Perhaps the internal microphone of the AirPods Pro 2 is capable of better isolating outside noises to offer greater clarity in calls, but the difference is not very significant.

Do they have active noise cancellation?

AirPods Pro 2 vs Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

Yes, both the AirPods Pro 2 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro have active noise cancellation and ambient mode. That is, they can completely isolate you from outside sound or keep it as ambient sound. Not only that, but both models have a sensor that allows it to identify if you start a conversation to automatically reduce the volume of what you hear. This way, you can have a conversation calmly without having to take off your headphones.

That said, we recognize that the AirPods Pro 2 reduce background noise better than the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. However, the latter have a slight advantage when it comes to equalization. Although they do not have a built-in adaptive equalizer like the AirPods Pro 2 do, the customization of the equalization setting is much greater through the app. And, in practice, what we see is that the Buds 2 Pro have more flexibility in this regard.

Finally, both models have a spatial audio system that allows you to listen to music or calls equally, regardless of where you move your head.

Autonomy and type of charge, slight advantage for AirPods

If we look at the battery and the type of charge that the two wireless headphones have, the AirPods Pro 2 gain some advantage. Both have a charging case that allows wireless charging, which is also fast charging in the case of the AirPods. On the other hand, the AirPods Pro 2 can last up to 6 hours with the ANC function activated, which is reduced to about 5 hours in the case of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.

Where the difference really is is in the autonomy provided by each charge of the case. This adds 18 hours to the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, while it offers up to 30 hours of charging to the AirPods Pro 2.

Which is more resistant?

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro vs AirPods Pro 2

Another aspect that is usually important when deciding which wireless headphones to buy is the level of resistance to agents such as water and dust. It’s not that we are going to put the headphones in the pool, but it is good to know to what extent they resist splashes of water or small specks of dust. When it comes to water tolerance, the advantage goes to the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.

On the other hand, the AirPods Pro 2 are more resistant to dust. How do we know? Because Apple headphones have an IP54 rating, while Samsung headphones are certified IPX7. From our point of view, it is usually more practical to look at the level of water tolerance because, in general, we tend to subject them to situations in which some water is more likely to get in than some dust.

Compatibility with other devices

You already know that, when we talk about Apple and Samsung, we talk about different worlds. AirPods Pro 2 are compatible with the latest versions of iOS. That is, with iPhone 6S Plus models onwards. Instead, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are compatible with Android 8.0 or later. This does not mean that AirPods cannot technically be used with an Android smartphone, but rather that many of the features cannot be extrapolated from one operating system to another. For example, there is no Galaxy Wearable app that supports iOS, while many of the AirPods Pro 2 features only work on iOS devices.

Which wireless headphones are most interesting?

In this case, we would tell you that it depends on whether you have an Android or iPhone mobile. The sound and audio quality is extraordinary on both models, and both feature active noise cancellation, ambient mode, spatial audio, and adjustable equalization. In addition, they have a system to detect our voice, integrate touch controls and have built-in voice assistants. Come on, they are models that could perfectly be homologous, for iOS or Android users.

If you have an iPhone or an iPad, we recommend opting for the AirPods Pro 2. On the other hand, if you have an Android smartphone, you will be more interested in choosing the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Basically, because many of the functionalities they have are only activated in their respective operating systems. In addition, the two wireless headphones are in a fairly similar price range. Therefore, taking into account that there are no really significant differences in terms of sound quality, the most logical decision is to think about which one will fit best with the rest of the devices.
