Size and appearance

Pod coffee makers are usually located in kitchens, on top of the counter, or perhaps on a table. Therefore it is important that you take into account the size.

Both the Nespresso Inissia and the Essenza Mini are lighter and have a smaller footprint. Although if we went into more detail, it would have to be said that the Essenza Mini is the ideal one if you really have little space.

Quite the opposite is the Vertuo Next, a more cumbersome coffee maker and requires more space for comfortable handling. We will see the reason for this size a little later.

Finally, as far as colors are concerned, the Essenza Mini and the Vertuo Next can be purchased in up to 6 different colors, while in the Nespresso Inissia that range is reduced to only 2 colors.

Centrifusion technology?

If you are not up to date with Nespresso coffee machines, that Centrifusion thing may sound a bit strange to you. Don’t worry, we’ll explain it to you briefly.

Centrifusion technology is a new technology patented by Nespresso and consists of spinning the capsule (centrifugal force) while hot water (infusion) is introduced inside. In this way, it is possible to take advantage of every last coffee bean and achieve a more intense flavor.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next makes use of Centrifusion technology, which requires another type of capsule. However , the Inissia and the Essenza Mini do not make use of this technology and use the usual capsules.

Functioning

Broadly speaking, we could say that we have already seen the most relevant differences between the three coffee makers, although we are far from finished. Let’s continue to see more features.

The Nespresso Inissia and the Vertuo Next only need 25 seconds to reach the optimal temperature. As for the Essenza Mini, we have not found a clear reference to this point, so we cannot ensure that it is the same time.

However , all three coffee makers have an automatic shutdown system and a very simple calcification cycle that makes it easy to keep the coffee maker in perfect condition. Remember that limescale is the great threat of this type of appliance.

Finally, all three models use the same pressure, 19 bar, predefined in all Nespresso coffee machines.

Deposits

Another key point is the capacity of the different tanks, both for water and for used capsules. The Nespresso Vertuo Next has a tank that reaches a liter capacity, although it has its explanation. The Vertuo Next is a coffee maker designed to prepare larger coffees and therefore needs more water.

On the other hand, both the Inissia and the Essenza Mini need less water since their capsules are designed to prepare smaller coffees.

On the other hand, the Nespresso Inissia has a capacity for 11 used capsules before you have to empty the tank. It is closely followed by the Vertuo Next (10 capsules) and lastly we find the Essenza Mini with a capacity for 6 capsules.

Connectivity

One of the many novelties of the Vertuo Next is that it has a bluetooth connection and Wi-Fi. This means that you will be able to access an app to control your coffee maker, find out its status or design your own recipes.
