Sustainable mobility is one of the great current challenges, and users are increasingly aware of the importance of choosing zero-polluting vehicles. For this reason, in large cities we regularly see people who travel on electric scooters, a cheaper and eco-friendly option. In this article, we compare three very versatile models, all from the same brand: Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4, 4 Pro and 4 Ultra.

At first intuition, we can see that the 4 Pro and 4 Ultra models are more advanced electric scooters than the 4, but we also assume that they are more expensive. But, could you tell how the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro and 4 Ultra differ? One of the main differences is its size, since Xiaomi has enlarged the Ultra model, making it more stable than its two predecessors.

On the other hand, power is another of the great variations that make the 4 Ultra stand at a higher level than the 4 Pro and the 4, both functionally and economically. Now, are these differences enough for us to stay with him? Or maybe the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro is better value for money? And, if you don’t have much of a budget, is it worth it to buy the simplest electric scooter? We answer these questions throughout this article. Do not miss it!

Same overall aesthetic

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro vs 4 Ultra vs 4

As you can see with the naked eye, the three electric scooters maintain the same visual line, with the predominant black color and some details in red. In addition, in all three models we see the logo of the brand on the upper tube of the scooter, in an upward direction. On the other hand, the three scooters incorporate an LED headlight at the front and another at the rear, as well as reflectors on the sides of the wheels. And, as far as control is concerned, we see a touch panel on the front of all three scooters, where we can see the remaining autonomy or choose the mode we want.

The main difference is really the weight of the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra, which is 24 kilos, compared to the 17 kilos that the 4 and 4 Pro models weigh. This is because this model slightly increases the height of the chassis , the handlebars and the width of the tire, which gives it more stability. Of course, it is heavier to transport, although it folds just like its brothers.

Only the 4 Ultra has suspension

Another of the big differences between the three Xiaomi electric scooters is that only the 4 Ultra has a dual suspension system, to minimize the impacts that may occur, for example, when passing a jump. The double suspension, added to the width of the deck, makes the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra the most stable scooter of the three, and in which the driving feels lighter because the irregularities of the terrain are less perceived.

Great progressive increase in power

If we look at the maximum power that the motor of each scooter has, we observe a growing and progressive trend. Thus, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 reaches a power of 600 watts, which rises to 700 watts in the 4 Pro, and which is consolidated with the 940 watts of the 4 Ultra. The consequence? Mainly, the speed of acceleration that the 4 Ultra has and the performance in the ascent of hills. In this sense, it should be noted that the 4 Ultra can climb slopes of up to 25%, far from 20% in the case of the 4 Pro, and 16% in the case of the 4.

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 lags behind in autonomy

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 vs 4 Pro vs 4 Ultra

One of the most important factors in the purchase decision when looking for an electric scooter is the autonomy it has; that is, the maximum number of kilometers that we can travel on a single charge. In this aspect, there are two differentiated levels. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 has a 7650 mAh capacity battery, which translates into a range that oscillates between 30 and 35 kilometers (honestly, we would tell you to count on 30 kilometers, rather than 35).

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro and 4 Ultra increase the capacity of their battery to more than 12000 mAh, with an evident increase in autonomy. In the case of the 4 Pro, autonomy goes up to 55 km, while with the 4 Ultra we can travel up to 70. You will wonder why this difference if they have the same battery capacity, and the answer is found in the number of speed modes.

While the 4 and 4 Pro models have 3 modes (pedestrian, standard and sport), the 4 Ultra adds one more mode, the S+. This mode causes power to be released more quickly, increasing your acceleration capabilities and helping you further optimize battery life. Above all, taking into account that the maximum speed at which all three can circulate is the same, 25 km/h.

Lastly, we benchmark performance in terms of load time, which is another important factor. In this case, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro takes the longest to recharge, between 8 and 9 hours, while the 4 and 4 Ultra models are around 5-6 hours.

Tires and braking system

In terms of safety, we cannot stop comparing two key aspects: the tires and the braking system that each scooter has. In the first case, the truth is that the three scooters have the same tires. These are the Xiaomi DuraGel, self-sealing tires with a diameter of 10 inches and made mainly of rubber.

For its part, the braking system changes slightly between the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra and its two rivals. The former has a system that combines eABS with a drum brake, while the 4 and 4 Pro have a double eABS brake. The combination of drum brakes with disc brakes reinforces the braking capacity at the rear wheel, which tends to be somewhat less than at the front.

Which is more waterproof?

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 vs 4 Ultra vs 4 Pro

Let me ask you a question: do you know which electric scooter you would choose on a rainier day? I’ll answer you: preferably, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra. The reason is that its degree of resistance is IP55, while that of the 4 Pro is IPX4. In the case of model 4, it is not specified, although we are inclined to think that it will be more similar to IPX4.

This means that, when it comes to water, both have a similar resistance, somewhat higher in the 4 Ultra. But where the biggest difference is in dust tolerance, which is non-existent on the 4 Pro, and quite good on the 4 Ultra. Come on, in an episode of African haze like the ones that have been going on lately, the 4 Ultra is a safer bet.

App connectivity

The three electric scooters are from the Xiaomi environment, and all three can be linked to the Mi Home app. In this case, the use of the app complements the scooter, because through it we can unlock it, install updates or check the reports of previous trips. In other words, the synchronization with the app does not affect the operation of the scooter, but it is a technological added value in all three cases.

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 vs 4 Pro vs 4 Ultra: Our conclusion

At this point, we only have to decide which of the three electric scooters we would stay with, and the answer depends on several factors. We cannot deny that the most complete of all, and the one that offers the most possibilities, is the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra, but its price is much higher than that of its competitors. On the opposite side is the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4, which can be a good option to get started in this world, but we wouldn’t recommend it if you already have experience and are looking for more power.

From a global perspective, we would say that the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro is the one with the best value for money, or, at least, more balanced. It’s not as powerful as the 4 Ultra, but it beats the 4’s, and when it comes to battery capacity, it’s equal to the 4 Ultra’s. It has a little less autonomy, but if you are going to move around the city, the truth is that you will not travel long distances. And, although it is not resistant to dust, you can rest easy in case it rains.

That said, you should assess which aspects are most important to you, because these preferences will help you choose the most suitable electric scooter. Basically, the decision changes depending on whether you are guided mainly by price, innovation or functionality.
