Especially if they are Dyson vacuum cleaners. There are many voices that speak of this brand as the undisputed leader in the cordless broom vacuum cleaner market, and, therefore, we wanted to compare its most complete models: Dyson V15, V12, V11 and V10.

Before we get into it, let us clarify something. As you know, Dyson usually releases several different versions of each model. For this comparison, we have chosen the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute, Dyson V12 Slim Absolute, and the Absolute version of the Dyson V11 and V10. If you have used a Dyson vacuum cleaner before, you will know that one of the aspects that the brand places the most importance on is power. And, in fact, it is one of the big differences between our four protagonists.

On the other hand, only two of these four vacuum cleaners have laser technology that allows them to carry out an exhaustive analysis of dirt particles, measure their size and display a report in real time. Now, it’s not all differences, we also found some similarities that remind us that we are talking about the same brand. From a powerful vacuum cleaner to a super powerful one

As we said in the introduction, the great strength that Dyson has in its vacuum cleaners is the incredible suction power that they achieve. If we look at the Dyson V10 and Dyson V12, which are the two “less” powerful vacuum cleaners, we see that they achieve a maximum power of 150 airWatts, which already far exceeds most cordless stick vacuum cleaners from other brands.

From there, the Dyson V11 improves it to 185 airWatts, and the climax comes with the Dyson V15, whose suction power rises to 240 airWatts. So far, we have not found a vacuum cleaner with a motor as powerful as the Hyperdymium, which is the motor that Dyson has, and which can spin up to 125,000 rpm.

Power regulation: mats make a difference

In reality, any of the four Dysons we are analyzing far exceed the maximum suction power of other brands, something that affects the price, of course. Of course, in all cases we can choose between 3 power levels: Eco, Turbo and Auto. We always recommend vacuuming in automatic mode, which is the one that best optimizes autonomy.

However, we must say that the Dyson V10 and V11, although they have great performance when vacuuming carpets, do not have the sensor that allows them to identify them to automatically increase the suction. This small technological innovation can only be found in the Dyson V15 and V12.

Linear autonomy

Another of the big concerns that we usually have when we are going to choose a cordless vacuum cleaner is how long the battery will last before having to recharge it, because whether we can clean the entire house or not will depend on it. In this sense, Dyson remains linear in the four models, which have a maximum autonomy of 1 hour.

Now, this autonomy reduces as we increase the power (hence we recommend vacuuming in automatic mode), so it is not usually convenient to count on the full 60 minutes. Get the idea that the real autonomy (sometimes you have to increase the power) can be about 40-45 minutes, which is not bad, within the usual average. And, be careful, the Dyson V10 is the only one of the four whose battery is not removable.

Not everyone has the same tank capacity

We don’t quite understand why Dyson decided to halve the tank capacity of the Dyson V12, which is 350 ml, compared to the 770 ml of the rest. The result is that it is a lighter vacuum cleaner, yes, but it covers a smaller area and you will be more likely to have to empty it every so often. Not that this is an impediment, but it takes away from comfort. What is true is that all vacuum cleaners have an easy emptying system so you don’t have to come into contact with dust, we just have to press a button and it will be emptied directly into the trash can.

Dirt in detail, only in two Dysons

One of the main differences between the Dyson V15 and V12 and the rest is that these two models have the Laser Slim Fluffy brush. It is a brush with green laser lighting technology that makes dust that may be invisible to our eyes more easily seen, thus increasing cleaning efficiency.

In addition, the action of this laser light is complemented by the piezoacoustic sensor they have, with which they can measure dust particles in real time. In fact, on the screen you can see a report on their size and concentration, which makes the house much cleaner, even with dirt that is imperceptible to the naked eye.

Not everyone has a screen

Another peculiarity that we must tell you is that the Dyson V10 is the only one of these four vacuum cleaners that does not have the round LCD screen on the top of the head to show information such as the percentage of autonomy left, the suction mode or, in the case of the Dyson 15 and V12, the state of the dirt particles. Honestly, it does not seem like an element with great structural importance to us, but it is important that you take it into account.

Cyclonic technology and high-efficiency filtration in all

What the four Dyson vacuum cleaners do share, and which is almost a corporate imperative, is the presence of several cyclones that reinforce the action of the motor to provide it with more intensity. If we get down to the details, the Dyson V10, V11 and V15 have 14 cyclones, while the Dyson V12 has 11. Although, to be fair, this is not very noticeable in the final result, which is very good in all cases. On the other hand, they maintain high-efficiency multi-stage filtration, so you won’t have to worry if you are sensitive to dirt.

What brushes and accessories do you have?

At this point, we must say that the accessories vary not only according to each model, but also depending on which version we choose in each one. Focusing on the four specific models we have chosen, all of them have the Motorbar main brush with anti-tangle technology and which, in our opinion, cleans quite well with a single pass. The V15 has a more updated version, the Digital Motorbar, but in essence it is very similar. In addition, all of them can be used as a handheld vacuum cleaner with the different accessories, for more convenience.

Additionally, the Dyson V15 and V12 have the Laser Slim Fluffy, with laser technology. Likewise, all four have a small motorized brush, a multifunction brush, a narrow corner nozzle and a flexible elbow. The Dyson V12 also adds a special brush for upholstery and a soft brush.

Dyson V15 vs V12 vs V11 vs V10: Which cordless vacuum cleaner is more worth it?

This depends on what your main needs are. Obviously, the most complete of all is the Dyson V15, and it has more very recent versions that have more new features, although we have focused on the Absolute. It is quite equal to the Dyson V12 in terms of technology and precision, but the Dyson V12 has less tank capacity and less power, so this makes the Dyson V15 more complete.

Now, if it is not so important for you to have the technological aspects mentioned and what you are looking for is simplicity and power, the Dyson V11 is a good option. It is a vacuum cleaner with a very interesting quality-price ratio and with a higher power than the Dyson V10. In addition, it has a removable battery and screen, two elements that we do not see in the Dyson V10. Of course, the price changes, and it is also an important factor. The Dyson V10 and V11 are slightly cheaper than the Dyson V12 and V15, although, to be honest, none of the four is a budget vacuum cleaner; It’s not Dyson’s strategy.

Therefore, if you are going to buy a Dyson it is because the price is not the priority aspect for you, but rather you are looking for quality, efficiency, safety and power. That being the case, our recommendation would be that you opt for the Dyson V12 or V15, which are the ones that can best guarantee these four qualities and the ones that best represent the combination of technology, power and comfort of use.
