Comparing Xiaomi with Samsung is one of the things we always do when both brands launch their new smartphones, whether high, medium or low range. In this case, we are going to focus on two mid-range smartphones that have a quite interesting quality-price ratio: Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A34. In fact, they are two of the smartphones most in demand by users, and the truth is that it does not surprise us.

One of the most important differences that we have detected between them has to do with the cameras. We assume that the Samsung Galaxy A34 is not the smartphone that has the best Samsung cameras, although the 3 it has do their job. They do not generate professional images and videos, but they are solvent.

Now, next to the cameras of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro, they have little to do. In fact, the quality of the cameras is one of the strengths (if not the most) that Xiaomi has exploited the most in this Redmi. Not only does it have a fourth rear camera, but the main camera has more than twice the resolution of the Samsung Galaxy A34.

In addition to the cameras, the processor, the operating system and the fast charging options are other important differences that will surely influence your decision. To know more detailed information, keep reading!

An aesthetic with few differences

Galaxy A34 vs Redmi Note 12 Pro

At first glance and if we do not turn them around, the two smartphones are quite similar to each other. Both have a screen that occupies almost the entire surface, with a fairly thin bezel that gives them a more sophisticated appearance. In addition, each one is available in various colors, highlighting that those of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro have a brighter touch. Regarding the screen, in both cases it is 6.6 inches, and they have a very similar resolution. Both have AMOLED technology, although the fact that the Redmi Note 12 Pro has Dot Display means it reaches a little more maximum brightness.

We do see more differences when turning them over, since the arrangement of the cameras varies. The Samsung Galaxy A34 has three cameras arranged in a vertical line, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro has four cameras arranged in a square shape. Apart from this and the variety of colors, there are not many more aesthetic differences.

Two processors, similar performance

We now look at the processor that each smartphone has. Before continuing, let us clarify that the 5G version of the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a different processor than the standard version. In fact, it has the same processor as the Samsung Galaxy A34, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080. For its part, the standard Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro incorporates the Snapdragon 732G processor, an earlier version that achieves a little less performance and speed when processing data. Along these lines, it must be taken into account that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro has an operating system based on Android 11, while the Samsung smartphone reaches the Android 13 operating system.

Same battery, different charging time

Another aspect that we usually look at when choosing which smartphone we choose is the battery. In this case, both have a 5000 mAh capacity battery. The autonomy depends a lot on the use we give it, although it usually doesn’t last more than a day, at most. Where there are the most differences is in the capacity of the charger. Both have a fast charging system, but the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro is much faster. This is because it has a 67-watt charger, compared to the Samsung’s 25 watts.

Three or four cameras?

Redmi Note 12 Pro vs Galaxy A34

Cameras are another of the most important components in a smartphone, because, today, images and videos are a fundamental part of our daily lives. The Samsung Galaxy A34 has a 13-megapixel front camera and three rear cameras. The main one has 48 MP, and is supported by an 8 MP wide-angle camera and a 5 MP macro camera.

In the case of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro, the front camera has a little more resolution, 16 MP. And, in the case of the rear ones, the main one has more than double. Specifically, 108 MP. In this mobile, there is also an 8 MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 2 MP macro camera and a 2 MP depth camera, which the Samsung does not have.

Built-in sensors

Smartphones today have numerous sensors that allow them to perform more different functions. And, between our two protagonists, it is another of the differences that we have detected. Some of them, such as the fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope or ambient light sensor, are common. On the other hand, there are others that we only find in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro, such as the facial recognition sensor to unlock the screen or the infrared emitter.

Are they dust and water resistant?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy A34

Yes, although not to the same extent. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro is certified with an IP53 level, while the Samsung Galaxy A34 has an IP67 level. This means that the Samsung mobile phone has greater resistance to both dust and water, although the difference is more substantial in the case of water. Therefore, the Samsung Galaxy A34 is a mobile phone that is more suitable for rainy days, for example, since its resistance to these external agents is greater.

Connectivity and NFC

Finally, we tell you that both smartphones are compatible with NFC technology, to make contactless payments. And, in addition, both have Bluetooth, only the Samsung Galaxy A34 supports version 5.3, compared to version 5.0 supported by the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro.

So, which smartphone do we end up with?

Now, we only have to decide which of the two smartphones best suits what we are looking for. And, for this, we have to look at the price. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro is a cheaper smartphone than the Samsung Galaxy A34, which is probably due to the fact that the Samsung has a processor with better performance. In addition, the operating system is more updated, and that can be important when playing different apps simultaneously.

However, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro has aspects in its favor, such as the quad rear camera. Not only the fact that it has one more camera than the Samsung, but the main camera has more than twice the resolution of its rival. In this case, we also highlight the speed of fast charging in favor of the Xiaomi.

Therefore, is there one mobile phone better than another? No, both have a fairly positive overall rating. The key is to know what the fundamental aspects are for you and, based on them, decide which one best meets the needs you have.
