Size sometimes matters
We often say that size is not important, but there are times when it is. One of the most important differences between the iPhone 14 Pro Max and its two rivals is the screen size, which is 6.7 inches compared to 6.1 inches for the other two models. If we continue talking about the screen, we must bear in mind that both the resolution and the brightness are in an upward trend from the iPhone 14 to the Pro Max.
In this same line are the dimensions of smartphones. The smallest is the iPhone 14, which is also the lightest, followed by the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max.
The processor is updated, the operating system is not
As you know, the processor is the “brain” of the smartphone, and we see that between the iPhone 14 and the Pro and Pro Max versions there has been an update. The iPhone 14 has the A15 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have the A16 Bionic processor. The differences, really, are difficult to perceive, but the A16 is the first processor that Apple uses that is based on a 4-nanometer process, since the previous one was 3.
Autonomy, the strength of the Pro Max
Battery life is another of the great features that users pay most attention to, given the habitual use that we usually make of the phone on a daily basis. Theoretically, we already see that the differences in terms of autonomy are few, but, in practice, there is a clear winner: iPhone Pro Max. This smartphone is the one that has lasted the longest with the same conditions of use, in part, because it is the one with the largest battery and, therefore, the most capacity. Likewise, it must be said that in all three cases there is a wireless charging option thanks to the 15-watt MagSafe charger.
One more camera in the Pro and Pro Max
Let’s see, now, what cameras each smarpthone has, since they are one of the great claims for users. The first thing you should know is that the iPhone 14 has two rear cameras and one front, while the Pro and Pro Max have three rear cameras plus the selfie camera. The truth is that we were surprised to find only two cameras on the iPhone 14, especially since both are 12 megapixels, a resolution that seems too low to us for a high-end mobile.
For their part, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have a 48-megapixel main camera, to which are added a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle and another telephoto camera of the same resolution. As for the front camera, in all three cases it is 12 megapixels, so there are no big differences.
In addition, the Pro and Pro Max versions have an additional LiDAR sensor, which helps to capture more professional images, with more depth and better resolution.
Same wireless connectivity and resistance
If we look at the type of connectivity of each smartphone, we see that all of them are compatible with Bluetooth version 5.3, in addition to having a 5G connection.
Regarding the level of resistance against water and dust, the three iPhones have the IP68 certification, which guarantees that they have the maximum possible resistance against these external agents. Therefore, whatever you take to the beach, enjoy maximum protection.
Do they share the sensors?
Yes, all three smartphones have the same sensors: the barometer, the accelerometer, the gyroscope, the facial recognition sensor, the proximity sensor, and the double ambient light sensor. The Pro and Pro Max versions also have the LiDAR sensor that we have mentioned before.
They also have NFC technology, which is what enables contactless payments. However, none of the three iPhones have a fingerprint sensor to unlock apps, unlike other competing smartphones.
iPhone 14 vs. iPhone 14 Pro vs. iPhone 14 Pro Max: Which one do we keep?
At this point, the big question is which of the three smartphones is most recommended. To answer this question, the first thing we need to know is the price of each one. In this case, the cheapest is the iPhone 14, followed by the 14 Pro and the 14 Pro Max. The economic difference between the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, without taking into account possible offers, is approximately 50% more. However, the differences in issues as essential as the size of the screen or the update of the processor, and even autonomy, justify it.
Therefore, the decision will depend on how much budget you can or want to spend. Any of the three ensures good performance, although if you are looking for a super advanced smartphone and prefer to bet on technological innovation, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the most complete of the three.
Our opinion is that the main decision you should make between yourself is compensated by the quality leap that the Pro and Pro Max models represent compared to the iPhone 14. And, in that case, the difference between the Pro and the Pro Max, which is smaller, means that, from our point of view, it is worth choosing the Pro Max. However, the last word is yours alone.
