Within the most economical ranges of smartwatches, such as Amazfit, it is possible to choose between simpler models and more advanced ones. In this article, we show you a comparison between the Amazfit Balance and Amazfit Active smart watches. These are two models with a good quality-price ratio, but there are some differences between them to take into account. Basically, as a summary, we could say that one is more suitable for those who want to keep a more exhaustive control of their physical condition than the other.

Overall, the Amazfit Balance improves on some of the specs the Active already has. For example, both smartwatches have the BioTracker sensor, which allows tighter control of the main health parameters. However, the version of the sensor that the Balance has is more advanced than the one that the Active has. In addition, it is complemented with a bioelectric impedance sensor, an air pressure sensor and an ambient light sensor that we do not find in the Amazfit Active.

Another aspect in which both smartwatches differ is the performance in terms of sports modes, which is superior in the Amazfit Balance. Not only because it is able to identify more sports modes, but because it can recognize more intelligently. All of this results in a much more complete user experience.

But, as we always tell you, the best way to know which of the two smartwatches is more worth it is to compare them in detail. And that’s what we’re going to do now!

Same brand, two totally different designs

Amazfit Balance vs Active

Although both smartwatches are from the same brand, they could not be more different from each other. The Amazfit Balance has a round dial with a metal bezel and a classic crown, while the Active has a rectangular dial more typical of sports smartwatches. This difference in shape also translates into size and, logically, weight. The metal frame of the Amazfit Balance makes this smartwatch heavier.

The Amazfit Balance screen measures 1.5 inches, slightly less than the 1.75 inches that the Active measures. However, this does not mean that the Amazfit Active has a brighter screen. In fact, the Balance has more resolution, despite the fact that both have AMOLED technology. On the other hand, it should be noted that the Amazfit Active only has one side button, which becomes two in the case of the Balance.

On the other hand, both have the same water resistance of 5 atmospheres, which allows them to be submerged up to 50 meters deep. Finally, you should know that both are available in different colors, although the chromatic variety is greater in the Amazfit Balance.

The Balance has more sports modes

One of the most significant differences between the two Amazfit models is the number of sports modes they include. The Balance has a total of 156 sports modes, which remain at 127 in the case of the Active. And, in addition to this set of modes, it is interesting to highlight which ones each smartwatch is capable of intelligently recognizing. The Amazfit Balance can detect 25 strength training movements and 8 sports modes. For its part, the Amazfit Active recognizes 7 sports movements.

Amazfit Active vs Balance

In addition, the Amazfit Balance has 6 satellite positioning systems, one more than the Amazfit Active, something that may interest you if you usually practice sports such as trekking, cycling or hiking. And, as a novelty, the Balance can measure heart rate also when you are swimming.

Health parameters: more detail and precision

If we look at the health-related metrics, we see a clear evolution between the Amazfit Active and the Balance. In general, we could say that both are capable of measuring the same parameters, only Balance does it with more detail and precision. The two smartwatches have the BioTracker sensor, which allows a 24-hour measurement of heart rate, blood oxygen saturation and stress level. However, the Amazfit Balance has a more updated version that integrates 8PD and 2LED, making the measurement much more detailed.

Additionally, only the Amazfit Balance has a bioelectrical impedance sensor to measure your body composition, as well as an additional air pressure sensor and ambient light sensor. On the other hand, both watches can monitor the menstrual cycle.

Contactless payments, another novelty

We are increasingly accustomed to making contactless payments through smartwatches, but not all models allow it. In fact, between our two protagonists, only the Amazfit Balance has NFC technology that enables this type of contactless payments. This is because Amazfit has partnered with Mastercard, so it is not compatible with all cards or in all countries. Even so, it is an important advantage over the Amazfit Active, which does not offer this possibility.

Other smart features

Before finishing, we want to tell you about some relevant differences that concern other technological functionalities that, although they are not the most important, can help you make a decision. For example, the Amazfit Active can store up to 250 MB of music, while the Amazfit Balance can store up to 2.2 GB.

It also has another small peculiarity, and that is that it has a timer for the pomodoro technique, an activity technique that consists of doing an activity for 25 minutes and resting for 5, successively. Beyond these two caveats, both smartwatches integrate the Alexa voice assistant, can connect with the smartphone via Bluetooth to answer calls and check notifications, and are compatible with the Zepp app.

Which Amazfit smartwatch is most worth it?

Now that you know what the most important differences and similarities are between the Balance and Active models, all that remains is to choose which one is most similar to what you are looking for. Obviously, the price difference is important, and, in this case, it is justified. The Amazfit Balance is a more expensive smartwatch, but it has numerous advantages over the Active. It has a broader and more updated set of sensors, more variety of sports training, more capacity to store music and the possibility of making contactless payments.

Although its price is higher than that of the Amazfit Active, it does not seem like the most expensive smartwatch if we compare it with other brands, taking into account all the possibilities it has. Therefore, it seems to us that its quality-price ratio is quite accurate, and that it is a good investment if you know how to optimize its use. Now, if you are going to use the smartwatch for much more basic aspects, it is likely that the Amazfit Active will be enough for you, and it is a lower economic investment.

Therefore, think to what extent you are going to take advantage of all the updates that the Balance Sheet offers, because that will be the main argument that leads you to make a decision.
