The world of smartwatches is one of the largest among commonly used electronic devices. In fact, brands continue to launch new models every few months, which makes the choice complicated if you are not sure what to look for to choose the most suitable one. Therefore, we want to help you by analyzing the characteristics of two of the most complete smartwatches of the moment: Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.

If we look at the price, we see that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is more expensive than the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro. The key, now, is to know if it has features advanced enough to make it more worth opting for that model, or if it is the Xiaomi smartwatch that has the best quality-price ratio. When it comes to the screen, the Samsung has a slight advantage over the Xiaomi. Not only because the screen is a little larger, but because it has better resolution and has an IP68 protection level, unlike the Watch 2 Pro.

On the other hand, we see that the two smartwatches have different processors, although, in both cases, very recent, which makes their useful life expectancy higher. And, when it comes to sports performance, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has 50 more sports modes than the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. On the other hand, they are more equal in health metrics.

That said, we are going to analyze in detail all the differences and similarities to check which of the two smartwatches has a more interesting quality-price ratio. Let’s go there!

Classic design smartwatches

Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic

There are some smartwatches that have a more sporty and modern design, while others, as is the case with the two we are analyzing, have a more classic aesthetic. In fact, both the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic have a classic bezel, with a rotating crown and two side buttons. It should be noted that, in the case of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, we have analyzed the largest model, 47 mm, but you can also choose a smaller one of 43 mm.

On the other hand, both are available in black, to which is added the brown color in the Xiaomi and the silver in the Samsung. And, being a more similar size, both the dimensions and the weight are quite similar.

Screen: slight improvement in the Samsung

We now look at the screen of both smartwatches. Both models feature AMOLED technology, but the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has some advantages over its rival. Mainly, it has a slightly larger 1.5-inch screen (the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has a 1.43-inch screen). And, consequently, the resolution is somewhat higher.

In addition, the Samsung watch has a sapphire glass screen, which has more resistance to scratches and bumps than the Xiaomi’s Crystal Clear screen. In fact, both models have a water resistance of 5 ATM, but the Samsung also has IP68 resistance that keeps it protected against more external agents, such as dust.

Two very recent processors

The processor is one of the most important internal elements, because the clock performance largely depends on it. The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is equipped with the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1, while the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has the Exynos W930. Although they are different processors, they are quite equal in terms of performance, because they are one of the most updated versions of each brand.

The Snapdragon processor has 4nm technology, compared to the 5nm of the Exynos. This small difference makes the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro processor have better performance in battery life, although we cannot say that it is relevant enough to be a decisive criterion. In addition, the Xiaomi watch has more ROM memory capacity.

Battery: duration and charging time

Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro vs Galaxy Watch 6 Classic

Continuing with the previous point, we are going to compare the battery life of the two protagonists of the review. The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro’s battery has 495 mAh capacity, somewhat higher than that of the Samsung, which has 425 mAh. This means that its duration is slightly longer on the Xiaomi smartwatch, but you already know that this also depends on how we use it. Among other things, it depends on whether we keep the screen always active, whether we use GPS or how many times we consult the sports and health features during the day.

Overall, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro can last up to 55 hours (65 hours on the Bluetooth model), and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic runs for about 40 hours. Of course, both have a fast charging system with which, in approximately one hour, they will recover energy.

Sports performance is uneven

To be completely honest, we expected them to be more even in sporting performance than they really are. And, here, we have to say that we had higher expectations from the Samsung. Based on the fact that both are smartwatches with great potential to measure your workouts, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has 100 sports modes, while the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has more than 150. In addition, the Samsung model is not one of those that has the route training option activated, which makes sports performance broader in the Xiaomi. And, as both have a water resistance of 5 ATM, both are suitable for practicing sports such as swimming.

Health monitoring, more balanced

On the other hand, if we look at the capabilities of smartwatches when it comes to health monitoring, we see that they are more equal. The two watches are capable of monitoring heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, stress level, menstrual cycle and sleep quality. However, what has caught our attention the most is that both have a bioelectrical impedance sensor. With it, they can measure body composition and, based on it, carry out more personalized monitoring.

Connectivity and compatibility with other devices

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic vs Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro

Both the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic are smartwatches from the Android environment; in fact, they have the same WearOS operating system. Therefore, both are compatible with Android smartphones. In the case of the Xiaomi, they must be version 8.0 or later, while the Samsung is compatible with Android 10 or later. What they do share is compatibility with both WiFi and Bluetooth.

And, if we look at the sensors, it should be noted that both are compatible with NFC technology for contactless payments, integrate GPS, voice assistants (although they are not available in all markets), and share the most common sensors in this type of devices.

Which smartwatch is more interesting?

At the beginning of the article we said that the key in this comparison was to see if the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic was more worth it than the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro taking into account the price difference and the characteristics of each one. After having compared them in detail, it seems to us that the Xiaomi smart watch has a more interesting quality-price ratio. It is noticeable that Xiaomi has made a great leap in technical quality in the Watch 2 Pro compared to other models, since it is very equal to Samsung in most features. In fact, it surpasses it in terms of integrated sports modes and battery capacity.

In general, we recognize that the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has surprised us more pleasantly than we expected, and it seems to us to be a great, more affordable alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. On the other hand, with the Samsung smartwatch you know that you never fail, and perhaps that is its main strength compared to the Xiaomi. Of course, the Samsung screen has better resolution and has a higher level of protection, it must be said.

Therefore, think about whether you prefer to opt for the reliability and reputation of Samsung, or you want to go for the value for money of Xiaomi. What we can assure you is that, whichever one you choose, the versatility and performance will be exceptional.
