If you are thinking about changing your smartwatch, it is very likely that you have come across one of these brands, because they are the ones that lead the sector right now. We are talking about Samsung Galaxy Watch, Xiaomi, Amazfit and Honor. In this article, we wanted to focus on comparing some of their mid-range smartwatch models: Xiaomi Watch S1 vs Amazfit GTR 4 vs Galaxy Watch 6 vs Honor MagicWatch 2. We already told you that, although they have certain similarities, we sense that not everyone enjoys of the same benefits, because not all of them have the same price.

Battery life is one of the most noticeable differentiating aspects between these four smart watches. Likewise, although all of them can be used to improve sports performance, there are two of them designed more specifically for this because they have more sports modes. Water resistance, the set of integrated health sensors or compatibility with other devices are other aspects where we find the most differences.

However, not everything boils down to differences. The four smart watches we have chosen also share certain similarities. For example, all of them have an AMOLED screen with a similar brightness, although the size is not exactly the same. On the other hand, although the autonomy of the smartwatches changes, the capacity of the four batteries is quite similar. In addition, all of them integrate a voice assistant, which is usually Alexa.

The best way to check which of the four smartwatches is best for you is to analyze them thoroughly and decide which one best meets your needs. And that is precisely what we are going to do next. Join us!

Four very different styles

Xiaomi Watch S1 vs Amazfit GTR 4 vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 vs Honor MagicWatch 2

Yes, all four are watches and, as such, they are made up of a dial and a strap. However, they have four very different styles that can be key when choosing which one you feel most identified with. The Xiaomi Watch S1 is the most similar to classic watches, both due to the design of its dial and the leather strap, available in various colors. In addition, it is the heaviest of the four, something that is influenced by the thickness of the crown.

The Amazfit GTR 4 and the Honor MagicWatch 2 are the ones that most resemble each other, and are somewhere between a classic watch and a sports watch. The Honor is monochrome, while the Amazfit has a metallic touch on the bezel. In addition, both have two side buttons on the right side.

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is the one with the most youthful and casual design, the one that is least reminiscent of traditional watches. It is also the lightest of all, which can make it one of the best for practicing certain sports.

Screen: same type, different size

We now look at the most important component of smartwatches, the screen. All four models have a screen with AMOLED technology (for us, the best in terms of outdoor brightness). However, not all have the same size screen, although the differences are not abysmal.

The Xiaomi and Amazfit smartwatches have a 1.43″ screen and share the same resolution. The Samsung smartwatch is the one with the largest screen, 1.5″ (and let’s not forget that it is the lightest), while that the Honor has a 1.39″ screen, somewhat smaller. Of course, the difference is not really significant in our opinion.

Battery: similar capacities, but variable autonomy

Let’s look at another of the most important aspects that most determine the choice of smartwatch: the battery. Although they do not have the exact same capacity, the differences are so minor that, practically, we do not consider them as such. The four smartwatches have batteries whose capacities range between approximately 425 and 475 mAh. For this reason, all of them take about two hours to fully charge.

However, there is a huge difference between the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and the other three models, since it only lasts between 2 and 3 days of standard use, far from the 12-14 days that the rest can last. On the other hand, only Amazfit and Xiaomi smartwatches have a battery saving mode, which allows autonomy of up to 24 days.

Which smartwatch has the best sports performance?

One of the reasons that leads many people to opt for a smartwatch is the ability to optimize their sports activity with them. The Amazfit GTR 4 is the one that integrates the most sports modes, a total of 154. And not only that, but it intelligently recognizes a total of 8 different sports. It is followed by the Xiaomi Watch S1, with 117 sports modes, and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, with 90. On the other hand, the Honor MagicWatch 2 is the one we would choose the least for sports, because it “only” has 28 sports modes.

Continuing in the line of sports that can be practiced with smartwatches, it must be taken into account that not all of them are suitable for water sports. In this sense, you can rest assured, because all four have a resistance level of 5 atmospheres; or, what is the same, they can submerge up to 50 meters. What does this mean? You can’t go diving with them, but you can swim in a pool. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 also has the IP68 resistance rating, which certifies that it also has maximum tolerance to dust.

Same health features, although not as precise

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 vs Honor Magicwatch 2 vs Amazfit GTR 4 vs Xiaomi Watch S1

Along with sports monitoring options, smartwatches offer a wide range of possibilities to monitor our health. In this sense, all of them have sensors that allow them to measure heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, stress level, monitor sleep time and quality, and even control women’s menstrual cycle. Although, to be fair, not all of them are equally accurate.

The Amazfit, for example, has the BioTracker sensor, with very interesting precision when it comes to measuring heart rate and alerting about anomalies in this regard. Although, in particular, it seems to us that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is the one that best takes advantage of the health functionalities thanks to the bioelectrical impedance sensor. With it, you can carry out a more exhaustive control of aspects such as body mass, fat level, etc.

Compatibility with other technologies and devices

An important part when deciding which smartwatch to choose is which devices we will be able to synchronize it with and which ones we will not be able to synchronize it with. For example, the Honor MagicWatch 2 supports devices that are Android 4.4 or higher, while to connect them with the Samsung Galaxy Watch, they must be Android 10 or higher. On the other hand, all four smartwatches are compatible with Bluetooth, although with different versions. And, except for the Honor and the Amazfit, the other two smart watches are compatible with NFC technology to make contactless payments.

What is the smartwatch that convinces us the most?

To choose which smartwatch best suits your needs, it is important to be clear about your limitations and preferences. That is, what aspects you need to resolve more quickly. If, for example, you use the smartwatch primarily to monitor your sports performance , the Amazfit GTR 4 can be an excellent option, because it is the one that integrates the most sports modes and the one that is capable of autonomously recognizing some of them.

On the other hand, if you prefer a smartwatch with which to maintain a more balanced control of health and activity, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 would be a great alternative, because it is the one with the most complete monitoring sensors. For its part, the Honor MagicWatch 2, although it has improved compared to its previous model, remains below its three rivals in practically all aspects. Of course, it is cheaper.

That said, think about what aspects are most important to you and make a decision based on them. This will make it easier for you to choose the right smartwatch.
