Amazfit smartwatches have evolved a lot from their first models to now. So much so that the brand has managed to match, in many features, other great leaders, such as Garmin or Apple Watch. But what improvements have you implemented between the Amazfit GTS 4 and the Amazfit GTS 3 ? In this article, we answer this question.

We start from the basis that these are two mid-range smartwatches with a very interesting value for money. And, although the Amazfit GTS 4 has a higher price, the difference is not as relevant as in other comparisons. This can make us think that there will not be many changes between them, but there are certain innovations and specific features that can greatly influence the purchase decision.

For example, aesthetically we are facing two very similar smartwatches, but the Amazfit GTS 4 improves practically all (or most) of the built-in sensors with respect to the GTS 3. It also includes more sports modes to choose from, and also improves battery capacity.

Design and aesthetics: are there differences?

The truth is that there are quite few differences in terms of design. The dimensions of both smartwatches are very similar, and so is the weight. The Amazfit GTS 4 is available in one more color than the GTS 3, and you can choose between the silicone strap or the classic fabric one, but otherwise they feature the same design.

The screen is square in both cases, with curved edges, AMOLED technology and a size of 1.75″. The resolution is 390 x 450 pixels, and both have a brightness that can reach 1,000 nits.

Battery changes

One of the biggest differences between the two smartwatches is the battery capacity, which is 250 mAh on the GTS 3 and 300 mAh on the GTS 4. However, we were very surprised to see that the GTS 3 has more autonomy than its rival, despite the fact that its battery is of less capacity. Thus, the Amazfit GTS 3 can last about 12 days of typical use, which extends up to 20 days if you activate the battery saving mode.

Instead, the Amazfit GTS 4 offers a range of 8 days of standard use, although in low battery mode it goes up to 30 days. Actually, the battery life will depend a lot on how you use the smartwatch, what features you use and activate and how often. From our experience, in practice there is not much difference in this regard, and both offer similar autonomy.

Sports performance and sensors

The set of sensors and functionalities that smartwatches include is another of the fundamental aspects that we look at before deciding which model to buy. In this case, although the differences are minimal, there are. The Amazfit GTS 4 has 154 sports modes, four more than its rival. Of course, the two smartwatches are capable of automatically identifying up to 8 different sports. In addition, in both cases we can activate the Virtual Pacer function, which will allow you to compete against yourself if you don’t have a partner with whom to measure your results.

Closely linked to sports performance is the precision in monitoring it, which depends, above all, on how detailed the information from the sensors is. In this case, we also notice some improvement in the Amazfit GTS 4, which has a more updated version of the BioTracker biometric sensor. It is upgraded to 2LED, allowing 33% more data to be collected than the previous generation, and with improved accuracy.

Apart from this, the two smartwatches have a sensor to measure blood oxygen, heart rate, menstrual cycle control and sleep quality, among other things. Likewise, they are capable of measuring the level of stress we have, and thanks to the PAI evaluation system, they offer us a super complete report.

Same water resistance

One of the sports that we can practice with either of the two smartwatches is swimming, preferably not in the open sea. This is because they both offer a resistance of 5 ATM. That is, they can dive up to 50 meters deep, although it is preferable that the immersion is not in the middle of the ocean.

Technological functionalities

We continue to analyze both smartwatches, and we realize that they have the same operating system, Zepp. Therefore, in both cases there is accessibility to the same applications, including the external Home Connect app. In addition, in both cases they are compatible with devices iOS 12.0 or higher, and Android 7.0 or higher.

If we look at the most technological features that both smartwatches can carry out, the winner is once again the Amazfit GTS 4. This model allows you to answer calls directly from its screen, manage music storage and make calls via Bluetooth. In this regard, it should be noted that they do not have compatibility with the same version of Bluetooth, since the GTS 5 is compatible with version 5.1, and the GTS 4 is compatible with version 5.0 LE.

Beyond these functionalities, the two smartwatches allow you to perform basic actions, such as checking the calendar, activating the alarm, choosing the “Do not disturb” mode or activating the “Find my phone” function, among other issues.

Amazfit GTS 4 vs Amazfit GTS 3: Which smartwatch is more interesting?

Having analyzed the most important differences between our two protagonists, it’s time to make a decision about which one is more worthwhile. To be honest, at first we thought that there would be more substantial differences between the two models, but both maintain a fairly continuous trend with some small updates, especially when it comes to the built-in sensors.

In this case, the Amazfit GTS 4 is a more precise smartwatch with a more advanced level of technology, although we cannot say that the difference compared to the Amazfit GTS 3 is very noticeable. They are, rather, small things that make our decision lean towards the GTS 4. The one that has convinced us the most is the update of the BioTracker sensor, because it allows us to obtain results and measurements with much higher precision. This, in turn, helps us improve our training and performance, and increases the experience and satisfaction with the smartwatch as well.

In addition, it includes certain technological features that the GTS 3 does not have, such as the ability to answer calls through the clock. The battery also improves its capacity, although in this sense, we did not notice a very substantial difference in terms of autonomy. The same happens with other important aspects such as the operating system or the screen, which are practically the same in both cases.

If you do not have either of the two smartwatches and you are wondering which one to choose, our recommendation is that it is worth betting on the Amazfit GTS 4. But, if you already have the GTS 3, we are not so sure that moving to the GTS 4 is the best option, because there are not such significant differences as to make the economic investment again.
