The Dreame vacuum cleaner brand is a clear example of how a business line can lead to a new brand, since Dreame is born from the Xiaomi ecosystem (hence its models inevitably remind us of those of Xiaomi). It is barely 10 years old and has already positioned itself as one of the reference brands when we look for functional and comfortable vacuum cleaners. And within the robot vacuum segment, it is doing an especially good job incorporating its own unique technologies. In this article, we compare three of the brand’s most complete robot vacuum cleaners: the Dreame L20 Ultra, L10s Ultra and L10 Ultra.

As you can imagine, there are many similarities that the three models share. Not only because they belong to the same range but also because there are two of them that have the same price. Overall, the Dreame L10 Ultra is the most “simple” of the three, since Dreame has incorporated more advanced features in the L10s Ultra and L20 Ultra. Among other things, the price is lower because it does not have built-in object recognition technology, and because it lacks the possibility of refilling the base with cleaning solution.

And, if we look at the differences between the Dreame L20 Ultra and L10s Ultra, we see that they are mainly reduced to the maximum suction power, the battery capacity and the charging time and the MopExtend function, present only on the Dreame L20 Ultra. A priori, it seems that this model has a better quality-price ratio, but are the differences so noticeable or, in practice, are they almost identical robots?

We answer this and other questions throughout the comparison. Do not miss it!

The automatic base is modernized and adds functions

Dreame L20 Ultra vs L10s Ultra vs L10 Ultra

The design of the three robot vacuum cleaners is practically identical, except that the Dreame L20 Ultra is a little taller, something that explains why it raises the mop more. Apart from that, the three robots are white, have a central silicone brush and have a side brush, in addition to the two mopping mops. However, we do see more changes when it comes to the emptying base.

The base of the Dreame L10 and L10s Ultra is the same, with the only difference that, in the L10s Ultra, we can add cleaning fluid, while the base of the L10 Ultra does not have that compartment. The rest of the functions (self-emptying, automatic water filling and mop drying) are present in all three bases.

But what about the base of the L20 Ultra? This model has a somewhat different aesthetic base. And, without a doubt, the most complete and innovative of the brand so far . It is a larger base (it takes up more space, keep that in mind), which goes from a flat white color to combining the slatted texture on the top with a touch of gold on the bottom.

It has more capacity than the base Dreame L10, which is why it is larger, since we are talking about a difference of 2.7 liters to 4.5 liters in the water tank. The dust container is slightly larger as well, but the difference is much smaller and barely noticeable. In addition, the Dreame L20 Ultra can leave the two mopping mops directly on the base and leave without them if you are going to use it only as a vacuum cleaner.

Does the suction power change?

The Dreame L20 Ultra has a higher maximum suction power than the Dreame L10s Ultra and L10 Ultra. While these two models can reach up to 5300 Pascals, the Dreame L20 Ultra raises the ante to 7000 Pascals. It performs especially well on carpets, although we expected to notice more of a difference on hard floors as well. Of course, the three Dreame robot vacuum cleaners allow you to choose between 4 intensity levels.

Changes that affect the battery

Dreame L10 Ultra vs L10s Ultra vs L20 Ultra

The battery is one of the fundamental parts in robot vacuum cleaners, because the length of time the robot works depends on it. Of course, this is also influenced by the power intensity or whether we choose the vacuum-only or scrubbing-only mode, or the combined mode. But, to compare, we are going to look at the maximum autonomy that each robot can achieve with one of the two modes. The Dreame L10 Ultra and L10s Ultra run for 210 minutes, three and a half hours. On the other hand, the Dreame L20 Ultra increases the autonomy up to 260 minutes, almost an hour more.

This is due, in part, to the fact that the battery it includes has more capacity than its rivals. Still, it has a faster charging time, although it is true that none of the three robots takes less than 4 hours to fully charge. And, so you don’t have to wait, they have the “Recharge and resume” function.

What is navigation like on Dreame robots?

The navigation and movement system is another of the great features that we look at when we consider which robot vacuum cleaner to choose. The first thing we highlight in this case is that all three use, as a basis, the laser navigation system to move. This allows them to carry out a complete mapping of the space to, based on it, establish the best navigation route. In fact, they can create up to 4 interactive maps that you can later edit from the app.

However, we must highlight that the Dreame L20 Ultra and L10s Ultra complement laser navigation with AI technology and a 3D camera, which also allows them to identify more different objects as obstacles than the Dreame L10 Ultra.

The mop extension, the great novelty of the Dreame L20 Ultra

One of the most important differences we see between the Dreame L20 Ultra and its two rivals, because it is exclusive, is what Dreame calls the MopExtend technology. Basically, this robot can extend the mop automatically to intensify cleaning on the edges and corners, achieving more effective results in the same pass. And, speaking of the mops, it is worth noting that in the Dreame L20 Ultra they rise up to 10 mm (the bad thing is that it is a taller robot that may have more problems accessing low areas), compared to the 7 mm of the Dreame L10s Ultra and L10 Ultra.

What are the main brushes like?

Dreame L10s Ultra vs L20 Ultra vs L10 Ultra

As we mentioned previously, all three Dreame robot vacuum cleaners have the same central brush. It is a multifunction silicone brush, without bristles, and in the shape of a V, specially designed to catch your pet’s hair without getting tangled. It is a brush that can be raised to move, without problem, from one surface to another slightly higher surface, such as a carpet. In addition, next to it there is a three-armed side brush on each of the robots, apart from the two mopping mops.

Remote control: app and voice

Finally, it should be noted that the three Dreame robots can be managed through the Mi Home or Dreamehome app. Through the app, we can program the start of the robot, modify the order of rooms, personalize it or define prohibited areas, among other things. In addition, they can also be synchronized with Siri, Alexa and Google Home voice assistants .

Which Dreame robot vacuum cleaner is most worth it?

After having verified the differences between the three Dreame robot vacuum cleaners, we are going to give you our opinion on which one is most worth it. If the price of the Dreame L20 Ultra and L10s Ultra is too high for you, the Dreame L10 Ultra is an equally technological robot vacuum cleaner, less advanced but more complete than other competing models. Keep in mind that it moves by laser, has a triple-function base and can mop as well as vacuum. Therefore, it brings together many of the technological functionalities that make day-to-day cleaning easier.

On the other hand, if you prefer to opt for one of the two most complete Dreame robot vacuum cleaners, our opinion is that the quality-price ratio of the Dreame L20 is better. For practically the same price, the Dreame L20 Ultra has the MopExtend function, which is really useful for optimizing each mop pass, and it has 50 minutes more battery life with less charging time. Additionally, at the base, you can leave the mops “parked” if you only want to use it as a vacuum cleaner, a more technological element that always adds up.

That said, it’s only up to you to decide which of Dreame’s three robot vacuum cleaners best suits what you’re looking for. All three share the same technology, so the decision will be based mainly on how advanced you want the functionalities.
