If you want to buy a robot vacuum cleaner to delegate the daily cleaning of the floor in your house but you don’t have a very high budget, there are interesting options that you could consider. In this article we compare two of them: Roomba 692 and Conga 999 Origin Genesis. Although they are two robot vacuum cleaners from the simplest ranges of each brand, they have important differences between them that are worth analyzing.

In fact, as you know, Roomba is not a cheap robot vacuum brand, and that makes the price difference quite noticeable between the two models. Now, in practice is there that much difference? In some aspects yes, and in others, not so much. For example, although, in theory, the Conga 999 has a higher suction power, the reality is that the Roomba has a more efficient performance. This not only has to do with power, but with the fact that the Roomba 692 has two multifunction main brushes, while the Conga 999 does not have a main brush, but rather a suction mouth that is less effective.

On the other hand, the Conga 999 Origin Genesis is more versatile than the Roomba 692 because, in addition to vacuuming, it can mop. Navigation is, in both cases, reactive, and is based solely on sensors. However, we must recognize that the Roomba 692 sensors are more precise than those of the Conga 999. On the other hand, it has a longer autonomy, which is also a point to take into account.

To know which of the two robot vacuum cleaners to choose, we encourage you to read this review carefully. In it, we will tell you all the differences there are so you can decide. Let’s go there!

What aesthetic differences are there?

Conga 999 vs Roomba 692

We start by looking at the design of the two robot vacuum cleaners, which is the first thing we always see. The Roomba 692 maintains a very similar aesthetic to the rest of its robots, and is a little larger and taller than the Conga. In this case, the main buttons are located in the center, just below the logo of iRobot, the company that owns Roomba.

For its part, the Conga 999 Origin Genesis is also black, but the top part has a design with a small speckled relief that we think gives an interesting touch. The buttons are located at the top, the Conga logo in the center, and the Cecotec logo below. One detail: the Conga 999 Origin Genesis is equipped with a remote control, something the Roomba 692 lacks.

Suction power: from theory to practice

Have you ever heard that there is a distance from saying to doing? It could apply, perfectly, to this section. Theoretically, the Conga 999 Origin Genesis has a higher suction power than the Roomba 692, because it reaches 1000 Pascals compared to the approximately 600 that the Roomba achieves. However, practice tells us otherwise.

After having tested both, it seems to us that the Roomba 692 has better suction performance. It has nothing to envy in terms of power, but it is true that the 600 Pascals of the Roomba are not the same 600 Pascals of the Conga. Likewise, the Roomba 692 has 3 power levels that you can choose from, compared to the 2 that the Conga 999 has.

Another small difference is that the Conga 999 has 5 predefined cleaning programs: automatic, edge, spiral, room cleaning and manual cleaning.

What are the brushes like?

Roomba 692 vs Conga 999

In line with the previous point, it should be noted that there is another factor that influences our perception that the Roomba 692 is more efficient: the brushes. This robot vacuum cleaner has two multifunction brushes that work together, and the truth is that they act very effectively absorbing all the dirt.

On the other hand, the Conga 999 Origin Genesis does not have brushes, but rather a suction mouth. There are no tangles, but considering that the suction power is not very high either, it falls short compared to the Roomba. In fact, for this reason the Conga needs 2 side brushes, while the Roomba only has one.

Navigation is not advanced

Another important aspect when deciding which robot vacuum cleaner to buy is navigation, which in both cases is random. That is, it is based on a set of sensors that do not allow it to perform prior mapping to optimize the cleaning route. Basically, what they do is prevent the robots from hitting or falling while they move indistinctly through the house, but without the coherence that laser technology provides them. When they hit an object, they redirect their path randomly.

At this point, we must highlight that, of the two robots, only the Roomba 692 is equipped with the magnetic tape that allows it to establish virtual walls, preventing the robot from accessing certain areas of the house. Considering they both have random navigation, they can’t create maps and save them to customize later.

One robot vacuums and mops, the other does not

Versatility is one of the advantages that the Conga 999 Origin Genesis has compared to the Roomba 692, because it is capable of vacuuming and mopping at the same time. Although, in reality, we cannot say that it scrubs, but rather that it passes a damp mop over the floor after vacuuming to polish the cleaning. Therefore, it has a mixed tank for solids and liquids, and a removable mop. In addition, the water flow can be regulated on two levels. Of course, it is true that, after mopping, it dries the floor, and that prevents small puddles from leaving the flooring wet.

Which one has more autonomy?

If we look at the maximum time for which the two robot vacuum cleaners can operate, the victory goes to the Conga 999. However, it must be recognized that the Roomba 692 is one of the Roomba robots with the most autonomy, as it reaches 90 minutes when the usual thing is that they do not exceed 75. On the other hand, the Conga 999 Origin Genesis has a maximum autonomy of up to 120 minutes. Of course, keep in mind that the more you increase the power, the less autonomy will be. On the other hand, the two can return to the charging base when they are finished or the battery runs out, but they are not able to resume cleaning.

Dirt sensors, only on the Roomba

iRobot Roomba 692 vs Cecotec Conga 999

We are now talking about one of the features of Roomba robots that we particularly like the most: Dirt Detect. These are sensors capable of identifying large concentrations of dirt and acting on them with more intensity automatically. This feature also contributes to improving the efficiency of the robot, and we do not find it in the Conga 999.

How is each robot controlled?

Typically, robot vacuum cleaners can be controlled in several ways, but not all are the same . Both the Roomba 692 and the Conga 999 Origin Genesis can be operated via smartphone, because they have WiFi connectivity and synchronize with a mobile app. Thus, through our mobile we can program the robots, see which area of the house they are in or check what they have already cleaned.

The Roomba 692 can also connect with the virtual assistant you have at home, to transmit orders directly by speaking. However, this is not possible with the Conga 999, which instead includes a remote control that the Roomba does not have.

Roomba 692 vs Conga 999: Which robot vacuum cleaner wins the battle?

As we mentioned in the introduction, the Roomba 692 has a much higher price than the Conga. Not only because Roomba is a more expensive brand, but because the vacuuming efficiency is greater. In general, what the Roomba 692 can clean well in one pass, the Conga 999 may need 2.

Of course, the Conga 999 Origin Genesis is one of the cheapest robot vacuum cleaners you can find. Especially those who, in addition to vacuuming, also scrub. Now, we always prefer to be guided by the cleaning results, which is the ultimate goal of having this type of device. And, there, Roomba is unbeatable.

If we stick exclusively to the efficiency of the vacuuming, the Roomba 692 wins the battle hands down. But, if we take a more global point of view, the Conga 999 Origin Genesis is more versatile and has better value for money. From here, think about what aspects are most important to you and it will be easier for you to choose.
