If you are looking for a tablet, you will surely feel more comfortable with one of the leading brands in this type of device, Samsung. And, although we tend to think that all Samsung tablets are high-end, the truth is that there are models for all budgets. In this article, we show you the main differences and similarities between the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 and A9+, two versions of the same model with more differences than we initially thought.

One of the clearest, as is usually the case between the plus and normal versions, is the size of the screen. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 has a size of 8.7 inches, compared to the 11 inches of the A9+ version. However, the differences go far beyond size. For example, despite being from the same range, they are two tablets with different processors. And, although it is not usually common, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ is much more powerful than its little sister.

Another important difference is the battery, which has a different capacity in this case . The standard model has a battery of just over 5000 mAh, while the A9+ reaches up to 7000 mAh, which translates into more autonomy. Of course, both have a fast charging option. And, if that were not enough, we also found another difference that has to do with the front camera. While the rear camera is the same resolution on both models, the front camera has better resolution on the Galaxy Tab A9+.

As you can see, it is worth taking a detailed look at these two tablets to see what, exactly, all their differences are. Can you come with us?

Screen size, one of the reasons for ‘plus’ growth

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 vs A9+

As is usual among technological devices, the “plus” versions are larger than the standard models, something that is completely true in this case. Thus, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 has an 8.7-inch screen, smaller than the 11-inch screen of the Galaxy Tab A9+. This makes this tablet larger, although it should be noted that, despite being wider and taller, it is less thick.

As the screen of the Galaxy Tab A9+ is larger, the image resolution is also higher, and images appear clearer and sharper. Of course, in both cases we find LCD technology. On the other hand, it is interesting to check what colors both tablets are available in, because they are not always the same. Keep in mind that on Amazon they are updated according to stock.

Processor change: Which one has better performance?

We recognize that this is one of the surprises that we have had in this comparison. Normally, it is not so common for a brand to change the processor between two models of the same range, but Samsung has done it in this case. The Galaxy Tab A9 has a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, while the Galaxy Tab A9+ has a Snapdragon 695.

Both are 8-core processors, but the Snapdragon one is more powerful, especially when playing content on mobile devices. That said, it should be noted that the two tablets are based on the same operating system, Android 13.

More battery capacity in the A9+ version

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ vs A9

We continue talking about the most important differences between the two tablets, and now we look at the battery. The Galaxy Tab A9 has a 5100 mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab A9+ reaches 7040 mAh. Under the same conditions, it is the plus version that could achieve a higher autonomy, although we do not dare to give an approximate duration because this varies greatly from one person to another. However, both tablets have the fast charging option, with a 15-watt charger.

The camera and speakers are also improved

If you use the tablet to make video calls regularly, whether personal or professional, you are interested in this section. The two tablets have a rear camera of 8 MP resolution, in this sense there are no changes. However, the front camera evolves from the A9 to the A9+. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 has a 2 MP front camera, while the A9+ has a 5 MP front camera with a self-portrait sensor. Therefore, when making video calls, our image looks sharper on the Galaxy Tab A9+.

Likewise, this model integrates a total of 4 speakers, two more than those found on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9. Even so, it should be noted that, in both cases, the sound is Dolby Atmos. In short, it offers a higher resolution image and clearer sound, important features if you use the tablet in a professional setting.

There are no differences in storage capacity

Not everything is going to be differences between these two tablets, there are also some similarities. This is the case of the storage options, which are the same in both cases. Thus, both the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 and the Tab A9+ have between 4 and 8 GB of RAM, and an internal storage capacity of between 64 and 128 GB. In addition, they are compatible with a MicroSD card of up to 1 TB in case you need more space.

Connectivity and sensors

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 vs A9 Plus

We come to another interesting section to compare the two tablets, and it is everything related to the most technological features. Regarding the sensors, it should be noted that they are practically the same, except for the Hall sensor, which is only present in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+, and the proximity and gyroscope sensors, which are only in the Tab A9.

The connectivity options are also quite similar in that both tablets are compatible with both WiFi and Bluetooth (although not in the same version). Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ has a 5G connectivity option that the Galaxy Tab A9 lacks.

Additional technological features

Finally, we want to talk about some of the additional technological features that, although they are not essential for the operation of the tablet, always add up. Both tablets have a multi-screen option with which they can split the screen in half to display two different things.

In addition, they include Quick Share, a system for instantly sharing files through the cloud and transferring them to other Samsung devices. On the other hand, none of them include the S-Pen pencil in their standard equipment, and they are not compatible with it either.

Should we stick with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 or the Galaxy Tab A9+?

As you can imagine, the price is another of the differences between the two tablets. Obviously, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ is more expensive, because it improves most of the features of its predecessor. Now, is it worth paying more money for this tablet? From our point of view, if you don’t have either, yes. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ has a larger screen, with better resolution, a more powerful processor and a sharper front camera. We find the advantages relevant enough to opt for the more advanced tablet of the two.

But, if you already have the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9, is it worth upgrading to the plus model? In this case, we are not so clear. Here you have already made an economic investment and, although the Galaxy Tab A9+ performs better than the A9 in almost all features, you may find it more interesting to wait for later models that include even better technological innovations.

Taking into account the frequency with which Samsung launches new models, we do not believe that it will take long to show more technologically complex options. However, only you can decide which tablet from the A9 range is most interesting to you based on your priorities and search preferences. We hope this comparison has helped you!
