Amazfit is one of those brands that has managed to carve out a niche in the market in record time, and has a wide range of smart watches to choose from. You already know that choosing which smartwatch is best for you depends on multiple factors, some of them subjective. However, there are other technical specifications that can make us make a decision based on our needs. In this article, we want to focus on these differences between three of Amazfit’s best-selling smartwatches: the Balance, GTR 4 and T-Rex 2 models.

One of the differences that we already told you has to do with compatibility with NFC technology, which allows contactless payments to be made. The Amazfit Balance is the brand’s first smartwatch that incorporates this technology and, therefore, the first with which you can pay directly through the watch. In addition, it has a more minimalist and sophisticated design than the Amazfit GTR 4 and T-Rex 2, which are more sporty.

Especially the Amazfit T-Rex 2, designed especially for outdoor sports due to its great resistance and greater ability to submerge in water. Likewise, it is the one with the longest battery life, both in normal use mode and in battery saving mode. On the other hand, the health parameters and sensors are another of the differences between the three models, which have a BioTracker sensor that is updated from one to the other.

But, as you already know, the best way to check which smartwatch is right for you is to analyze them in detail, and that is what we are going to do. Grab a pen and paper and take notes!

Three aesthetically different watches

Amazfit GTR 4 vs Balance vs T-rex 2

The truth is that, if we did not know that we were looking at three watches from the same brand, we would have serious doubts, because aesthetically they do not look very similar. The Amazfit T-Rex is the one with a sportier design, with a thicker bezel, twice as many buttons as its two rivals, and heavier. For its part, the Amazfit Balance is the one with the thinnest design. The bezel is not only thinner, but it is also more camouflaged because it has a grayish tone that makes it stand out less. Likewise, the design of the needles is more delicate.

On the other hand, the Amazfit GTR 4 is situated halfway between the previous two. It does not have the finesse of the Amazfit Balance, but it is not as rough as the T-Rex 2. For example, it has only two buttons (same as the Balance), a touch that detracts from the sportiness of the design compared to the T-Rex 2. Additionally, both the GTR 4 and Balance are lighter than the T-Rex 2.

Screen: same type, different size

Inevitably, the screen is one of the things we first look at when we buy a smartwatch. It should be noted that all three have the same type of screen, AMOLED, but in different sizes and resolutions. The Amazfit T-Rex 2 is the one with the smallest screen, 1.39 inches, closely followed by the Amazfit GTR. For its part, the Amazfit Balance is the one with the largest screen, reaching 1.5 inches. It seems little, but in a device as small as a smartwatch, it is noticeable. Consequently, not only the size changes, but also the resolution.

The sportiest smartwatch is the one with the best battery

Amazfit T-rex 2 vs Balance vs GTR-4

We come to the aspect related to the battery, one of the most important components of a smartwatch. In this case, the Amazfit T-Rex 2 is the one with the largest capacity battery. And, in addition, it achieves an autonomy that is difficult to surpass by the majority of smartwatches on the market.

Although, theoretically, the difference in capacity is not much, a big difference is noticeable when it comes to autonomy. It should be noted that the T-Rex 2 is a smart watch designed especially for outdoor sports, which forces it to remain active for longer in adverse conditions.

The result is an autonomy of up to 24 days in standard mode and up to 45 days in battery saving mode. For their part, the Amazfit Balance and GTR 4 achieve an autonomy of 14 and 25 days, respectively (which is not bad either). The charging time is the same in all three models, about two hours.

An updated BioTracker sensor

If we look at the sensors that each smartwatch has, we see that all three Amazfits have the BioTracker sensor, but with different versions. The BioTracker sensor, designed by Amazfit, is capable of simultaneously measuring heart rate, blood oxygen saturation and stress level. However, in the Amazfit T-Rex 2 we see version 3.0, compared to 4.0 for the GTR 4 and 5.0 for the Balance. The main difference is the level of precision, which improves on the Amazfit Balance.

On the other hand, only the Amazfit Balance has the BIA, bioelectrical impedance sensor, which can measure your body composition, such as your skeletal muscle mass or fat mass. When it comes to other sensors, another advantage of the Balance is worth highlighting. Specifically, it is the only one that monitors the menstrual cycle, although, to be fair, both the Amazfit T-Rex 2 and the GTR 4 are compatible with this option, although they do not have it as standard.

If you are looking for sports performance, the T-Rex 2 wins the battle

Amazfit GTR 4 vs T-rex 2 vs Balance

As we have mentioned, the Amazfit T-Rex 2 is a smartwatch with a design very focused on the sports field. In fact, it is the one with the most integrated sports modes, and the most important difference has to do with outdoor sports, such as hiking, climbing or similar. There is also a very clear improvement in water sports, since the Amazfit T-Rex 2 can dive up to 100 meters deep, 50 more than the other two smartwatches.

When it comes to smart workouts, it is fair to say that all three models autonomously recognize between 15 and 25 strength training sessions and up to 8 sports movements. Therefore, in indoor sports, all three provide the same level of performance in terms of activity monitoring and control.

Only one of them allows contactless payments

And that is the Amazfit Balance. In fact, the brand itself has announced it as the first Amazfit smartwatch from which contactless payments can be made. This is because it is the only one that is compatible with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, which is what allows this type of payment to be made between two connected devices.

Which Amazfit smartwatch do we choose?

Now that we have analyzed the most significant differences between the three Amazfit smartwatches, it is time to decide which one to choose. To do this, we have to take into account the price. As we expected, the Amazfit GTR 4 is the cheapest, but, if you look closely, it is the one that stands out the least of the 3. It offers satisfactory results, but it is a bit halfway between the other two models. And, in the end, the economic difference is not so high compared to the T-Rex 2 and Balance.

To choose which smart watch we choose, we have to decide what we are going to use it for the most part. If you are looking for a watch with a sporty nature, we advise you to choose the Amazfit T-Rex 2. It is the one with the highest level of resistance and the one that covers the greatest variety of sports modes. In addition, it is the best at monitoring outdoor sports, and the one with the longest battery life.

On the other hand, if you don’t give so much importance to the sports section and are looking for more technology, the Amazfit Balance is closer. It is the brand’s first smartwatch with NFC technology, and also the one with the most advanced sensors. And, economically, there are hardly any differences between these two models. Therefore, think about what your priorities are and choose the one that best suits them.
