Braun is one of the most recognized companies in the electric shaver sector, and, therefore, today we want to focus this comparison on the four most advanced series in the Braun range: series 6, 7, 8 and 9. Broadly speaking, I can tell you that Braun series 8 and 9 are high-end shavers, while series 6 and 7 are mid-range. Does this mean they are worse? Not necessarily; In fact, it is possible that a mid-range shaver has a more interesting quality-price ratio than a high-end one.

Now, it also depends on the preferences and needs that each person has. It is likely that if you are a person with more skin sensitivity, you will prefer to opt for more advanced shavers that include more skin care technologies. Or, on the contrary, you may need to reduce your budget a little and don’t know what to look for when choosing a quality shaver. Although, to be honest with you, any of the four Braun shavers that I bring you in this comparison is.

The main differences between them come down to shaving technology and everything that surrounds it. That is, the number of cutting actions, the flexibility of the head or the shaving elements, for example. In fact, I already told you that there are more similarities between them than differences. And, to focus the comparison more specifically, we have chosen four different models. You already know that each Braun series has several models, among which there are differences such as the number of accessories that each one includes. So, if you’re ready, let’s go!

The design changes little

Braun Series 9 vs 8 vs 7 vs 6

If you have read any of my other reviews, you will know that one of the things I look at first (it is inevitable if you have eyes) is the design. And the truth is that we cannot deny that they are shavers from the same brand, because they all have a very similar design. In fact, the most important change is the color of the body, which varies between shades of gray, black, blue and gold.

The Braun Series 8 and 9 have a slightly wider design in the head, but it is not a huge difference. In addition, all of them include a very useful travel case. You already know that this can vary between several models of the same range, but in the case of the four that we have compared, it is in all of them.

Four shavers, two shaving technologies

In the introduction I told you that the Braun Series 8 and 9 are considered high-end shavers, a level above the Series 6 and 7. Fundamentally it is due to the shaving technology, since we move on from the AutoSense technology that the Braun models have . mid-range, to SyncroSonic in the high-end ones. Although, in reality, it is not that they are replaced, because the Braun Series 8 and 9 also have AutoSense technology. This, basically, is what maintains a constant and appropriate power for each movement throughout the entire time you are shaving, regardless of the beard density.

On the other hand, SyncroSonic technology goes one step further, and adjusts the shaving power according to the density of each man’s beard. That is, while AutoSense maintains a constant power regardless of beard density, SyncroSonic varies it depending on said density. Of course, all of them can be used both dry and wet.

Shaving elements and cutting actions

Braun Series 6 vs 7 vs 8 vs 9

Another clear difference between the four Braun shavers has to do with the shaving elements they have. Here, the victory goes to the Braun Series 9, which has 5 cutting elements (4 blades plus the head), compared to 4 in the case of the Braun Series 7 and 8, and 3 elements in the series 6. In addition, the blades of the Braun 9 execute 40,000 actions per minute, which are reduced to 30,000 in the 8m model and 24,000 in the Braun Series 6 and 7.

The flexibility of the head, another difference

We continue analyzing the elements involved in shaving, and another very important difference is found in the flexibility of the head. The Braun Series 9 has a head that moves in 10 directions, while the Braun Series 8 stays in 8 directions. In the case of model 7, we see a 360º rotating head, and the Braun Series 6 is the most static in this regard, since its head only moves in 2 directions, from top to bottom. Curiously, the head of the Braun Series 7 is the most flexible of all, because it moves in any direction.

How many accessories does each electric shaver have?

This is one of the most difficult questions to answer, because, as I have already told you, the total number of accessories can change from one model to another. In general, all of them have a precision trimmer and side trimmer, which are the two accessories that we usually need the most. The Braun Series 8 is the most concise in this regard, because it does not have a trimmer (at least, the model we have chosen).

Another piece that I think is important to talk about is the Smart charging station, which we see in the Braun 6, 8 and 9. In it, in addition to recharging the battery, the shaver is also cleaned and lubricated, so it is an accessory really interesting.

A very similar autonomy

You’re probably wondering how long shavers last, and the answer is that, obviously, it depends on how much we optimize them. Even so, the autonomy ranges between 50 minutes in models 6 and 7 and 60 minutes in models 8 and 9. Generally, the most advanced series slightly increase the autonomy because their battery has a higher capacity, but the difference is not much. . In addition, all of them take approximately one hour to charge.

Braun Series 7 vs 8 vs 9 vs 6

Do all shavers have a screen?

Yes, at least these four models. In all of them we can see a small screen on the front that tells us the remaining battery level, if the warning to replace the head is activated or if the travel lock safety is activated.

In the Braun Series 8 and 9 shavers, the screen is improved to what the brand itself calls the pro screen, in which we also see a countdown with the last minutes of autonomy.

Braun Series 9 vs 8 vs 7 vs 6: Why do I choose an electric shaver?

After having analyzed and compared the four ranges of Braun electric shavers, it is time to decide which one is most worth it. When it comes to shaving technology, the model 9 is the most advanced of all. Not only because it has more cutting elements, but because it also performs more actions and vibrates at a higher intensity than the rest. In addition, the sensors it includes mean that the power automatically adjusts according to the amount of beard you have, always adapting to the movement and shape of your face. The bad thing, of course, is that it is the one with the highest price.

If we take into account the economic aspect, we can distinguish two large groups. The Braun Series 8 and 9, which have a higher economic range, and the 6 and 7, more moderately priced. Between the first two, our recommendation would be to go for the Braun Series 9, because for a little more money you have a shaver that is probably one of the most exclusive and complete at the moment.

On the other hand, if you prefer to opt for a cheaper shaver, our choice would be the Braun Series 7. It is the most flexible of the four models, and incorporates all the features that the Braun Series 6 has, adding some, for an economic difference that does not It is very wide. But, as you know, the last decision is yours; and, as I have told you before, being Braun, it is quality assured.
