Electric shavers are one of the personal care devices that has evolved the most in recent years. In fact, today there are models that, although they have the same function, are totally different in terms of design, operation and the cutting system they have. An example is the comparison that we bring you below, in which we analyze the differences between the Braun Series 9 Pro+, Philips 9000 and Panasonic Arc 6 electric shavers.

Before we start, let us tell you that, in Spain, the Panasonic Arc 6 can also be seen as Panasonic Series 900+, but the model is the same. That said, we tell you that the three shavers are within the high range, but the Braun has a higher price than the Philips and the Panasonic. In part, because it has a super complete 6-in-1 cleaning station that the other two models do not have (at least, the ones we have chosen in this comparison, but you can buy it separately).

Shaving technology is another of the big differences between the three shavers. For example, the Braun shaver does not have a flexible head, but instead relies on a 2-in-1 shaving system in which there is a step prior to shaving, which we will tell you about later. For its part, the Philips Shaver Series 9000 incorporates a pressure sensor that we do not see in the other two shavers, and which is very interesting to keep the skin super cared for. On the other hand, the Panasonic integrates very high quality blades within what the brand itself calls Japanese technology, which we will explain to you later.

Therefore, the best way to decide which shaver we choose is to compare them in detail and see which one best suits what we are looking for. Are you ready? Let’s go there!

Aesthetic differences to highlight

Braun Series 9 Pro+ vs Panasonic Arc 6 vs Philips 9000

At first glance, we can sense that we are looking at three different shavers, although, in reality, we can talk about two styles. The Braun and Panasonic shavers have a more similar design, with a rectangular-shaped head and more traditional leaf blades. Of these two, only the Panasonic Arc 6 has a flexible head, unlike the Braun model. This one, on the other hand, has a more technological appearance because the screen is larger.

The Philips Shaver Series 9000, for its part, has a more three-dimensional blade design, with a super flexible head made up of three arms within which there is a double blade in each one. It is the most robust shaver, but that also makes it the heaviest. Likewise, we really like the ice blue color that Philips proposes in this shaver.

Shaving and blade technology

The most important aspect of an electric shaver is, without a doubt, the shaving technology and the blades it has. The Braun Series 9 Pro+ has sonic technology with AutoSense, which is nothing more than a double shaving system. Thus, it has a pre-shaving head that is used to massage the area, activate blood circulation and stimulate the follicles found under the skin.

This, according to Braun, makes shaving more effective, and the truth is that it is noticeable (not to mention the pleasure that little massage gives). In fact, this is the main reason why the Braun shaver is quite effective on beards up to a week old, so if you are one of those who shave every few days, it is a great option. The shaver then performs approximately 40,000 cutting actions per minute.

In the case of the Philips Shaver Series 9000, it follows SkinIQ technology with double SteelPrecision blades. The highlight of this shaver is, on the one hand, the great performance of the double blades, which reach 150,000 cuts per minute. And, on the other hand, the technological level it has.

Like the other two shavers, in this one we see a sensor that makes it adapt very well to the contour of your face. However, the Philips shaver also has a pressure sensor that tells us if we are applying the appropriate pressure.

And, in the Panasonic Arc 6, the highlight is the Japanese Blade Tech technology. Basically, the strength of this shaver is the quality of its 6 Japanese stainless steel blades. Of them, there are 2 for thick stubble, 2 for lifting hair, and 2 finishing blades.

Head flexibility

Panasonic Arc 6 vs Braun Series 9 Pro+ vs Philips 9000

As we have previously mentioned, not all the shavers featured in this review have a flexible head. The Braun model relies on an aesthetic head, although it has a great ability to adapt to the shape of your face, to tell the truth. On the other hand, the Panasonic Arc 6 does have a flexible head, but it moves in 10 directions, unlike the Philips head, which moves in 360º.

Likewise, it is important to keep in mind that the Panasonic blades have the least useful life, about 6 months, far from the 18 and 24 months that the Braun and Philips blades can last. However, this is greatly influenced by the maintenance and cleaning you do.

What accessories do they have?

When we are considering which electric shaver to choose, the built-in accessories can be key elements in that decision. We assume that all of them have a fold-out trimmer for the “hairs” on the sideburns, as well as a cover. The Panasonic Arc 6 does not have any extra accessories, apart from the case (we do not consider this a shaving accessory as such, although it is an element to take into account). The Philips Shaver Series 9000 has, in addition to the main head, an accessory for shaping the beard.

For its part, the Braun Series 9 Pro+ has two accessories in addition to the main head. On the one hand, the ProComfort head, which is the “massager” that we told you about before. And, on the other hand, a 6-in-1 SmartCare cleaning station, which we think is Braun’s great success. This cleaning station has 3 cleaning and drying modes: short, standard or intensive. An accessory that helps prolong the useful life of the shaver, and which we believe can be decisive in the final choice.

Battery life, small differences

Braun Series 9 Pro+ vs Philips 9000 vs Panasonic Arc 6

Another aspect in which users usually show interest is battery life. You already know that a single charge is enough for several shaves, because it usually doesn’t take more than 5-10 minutes, approximately. Therefore, autonomy is measured in total (approximate) minutes that the battery lasts before you need to recharge it. In this regard , Braun and Philips shavers have an autonomy of approximately 60 minutes, while the Panasonic Arc 6 lasts about 45 minutes.

When it comes to charging, it should be noted that the Braun is the one that charges the fastest, gaining 10 minutes compared to Philips and Panasonic shavers, which take 1 hour. Of course, all three have a fast charging option for emergencies.

Screen and mobile app

The more technological aspects of shavers can be determining factors, although they are not usually decisive. All three shavers have a small screen where you can see how much autonomy is left, if the head needs to be replaced or if there is a maintenance fault. However, only the Philips Shaver Series 9000 can be synchronized with a mobile app (Groom Tribe) to further optimize its use, and that is an important advantage over its rivals.

Which electric shaver should we choose?

Now, it’s time to decide which of the three electric shavers best meets our needs. On the one hand, it must be taken into account that the price is quite equitable in all three cases . The Braun Series 9 Pro+ is a little more expensive, but don’t forget that it includes a cleaning center that the other two shavers don’t have. In fact, if we bought it separately from Panasonic, for example, the price would rise to the same amount as that of Braun. Therefore, if you want to have this accessory, you can opt for the Braun shaver, which is also more suitable for longer beards thanks to the massager it has.

The Philips Shaver Series 9000 is the most technologically advanced, and may convince you if you prefer dual blade shaving technology. In this sense, its great strength is how much we optimize shaving, not only thanks to the motion and pressure sensors, but also to the mobile app. On the other hand, the Panasonic Arc 6 is a choice motivated, above all, by the quality of the sheets it has.

That said, any of the three will solve your needs if you are looking for a high-end electric shaver. Therefore, think about which one you think best fits what you are looking for and choose.
