There are times when we do not have to look only at the latest products from big brands, but it is enough to evaluate one of their mid-range products. Especially with brands that clearly lead their sector and offer quality assurance in all their products. Today, for example, we compare three mid-low range electric toothbrushes from Oral-B, but which do not mean they are less quality. We are talking about the Oral-B Pro 3 3000 vs 3500 vs 3900.

As you can see, they are three brushes from the same range, which makes us think that, apparently, there won’t be many differences. In fact, we already told you that the differences between these three models are reduced to the container, rather than the content. That is, they differ in the color of the handle and the set of accessories that each one carries. We will explain it to you in detail later.

For the rest of their features, they are exactly identical electric toothbrushes. All of them have a round head with oscillating and rotating technology, they have a two-minute timer, a pressure sensor, a sensor that alerts you to brushing areas and an LED indicator. On the other hand, they lack the reminder to replace the head and they do not have a Bluetooth connection, but their price is really interesting.

If you want to know in more detail what the main differences are between the three models in the Oral-B Pro 3 series, keep reading our review!

The color of the handle and the case, the main differences

Oral-B Pro 3900 vs 3500 vs 3000

As we had anticipated in the introduction, the aspects in which the three electric toothbrushes that we are analyzing differ are aesthetic issues. On the one hand, the color of the handle. The Oral-B Pro 3 3000 and 3900 are available in black, while the 3500 can be purchased in white. However, we recommend that you check it from time to time, because the brand itself may launch models in other colors, such as blue or pink.

Another difference is that the Oral-B Pro 3 3000 and 3500 are equipped with a single handle, while the Oral-B Pro 3 3900 includes two different brushes. The 3500 includes a single head, unlike the 3000 and 3900, which include 2 heads. Even so, as with color, this will depend on the model you choose, since there are more variations of each one.

Finally, the third aesthetic difference has to do with the travel case, which is only included in the Oral-B Pro 3 3500. Therefore, if you tend to travel frequently, this small detail may become more important when choosing.

Brushing technology and modes

All three Oral-B Pro 3 electric toothbrushes have the same brushing technology, which the brand calls 3D. Basically, it consists of the simultaneous performance of three movements: oscillation, rotation and pulsation. For this reason, they also include the same type of head, which is round.

As for brushing modes, all our protagonists have a total of 3. Specifically, you can choose between the daily cleaning modes, which is the classic mode, the special teeth whitening mode, and the one designed for the most sensitive gums.

Pressure control throughout the brushing area

Another similarity between the three electric toothbrushes is that they all integrate a pressure sensor that allows us to detect whether we are applying the appropriate pressure or not. To let you know, it includes an LED indicator around the handle that lights up when the pressure is not correct.

In this case, the brush also slows down, so that your gums remain more protected. On the other hand, it is interesting that you know that pressure control is carried out in a 360º area, that is, it is carried out equally in all brushing areas of the mouth.

Timer up to 2 minutes

We continue talking about the characteristics of these three electric toothbrushes, which have a 2-minute timer, the ideal time to brush your teeth according to dental professionals. This timer is used to indicate when we have completed two minutes of brushing. Before reaching that time, every 30 seconds, it emits vibrations that tell you how long you have been. When you reach two minutes, the vibrations are more intense.

Same battery life and recharge type

Knowing how long the brush battery can last is important for those people who often go on trips and do not want to carry the charging base. In this regard, we tell you that the Oral-B Pro 3 3900, although it includes two brushes in its standard equipment, only has one charging base.

That said, all three models can run for up to 2 weeks on a single charge. In reality, it has an approximate autonomy of one hour which, divided into two minutes of brushing, lasts approximately 14 days.

What are these three electric toothbrushes missing?

Although the brushes in the Oral-B Pro 3 range are a clear improvement over the 2500 series, there are some aspects that we miss and that we believe would improve them even more. On the one hand, none of them have the reminder that notifies us when the head needs to be replaced.

According to dentists, the head should be replaced approximately every 3-4 months, although this also depends on the use we give the brush. However, having that reminder is more comfortable for us.

On the other hand, they also do not have a Bluetooth connection nor can they be synchronized with the Oral-B app. This functionality is reserved for Oral-B’s most advanced brushes, those in the iO range.

So, which Oral-B Pro 3 electric toothbrush is most recommended?

As you have seen, there are no practical differences in the use of the three electric toothbrushes, but these are reduced to how many brushes and heads they include, what color, or whether they have a case. Therefore, to decide which of the three is most worth it, several aspects must be taken into account. For example, if you usually travel frequently, our clear recommendation would be the Oral-B Pro 3 3500, because it is the only one of the three that includes a travel case.

In fact, we are of the opinion that this is the model with the most interesting quality-price ratio of the three in any case, although we understand that there may be doubts between this and the 3900, which has two handles. However, our experience tells us that it is preferable to have only one brush (the handle lasts a long time if you take care of it) and have a case to store and carry it, than to have two brushes and not know how to transport it.

Additionally, the Oral-B Pro 3 3900 has a higher price, while the price difference between the 3000 and 3500 models is smaller. But, as we always tell you, you have the last word. Think about which of the two scenarios is more interesting for you and choose the model that best suits what you are looking for.
