Oral-B is the leading brand in electric toothbrushes, and one of the reasons is the wide variety of models it offers. We can find from the most complex and technological brushes, such as those in the iO range, to the simplest. In fact, today we want to focus on the Vitality range, which is the simplest of Oral-B. Thus, we show you a comparison between Oral-B Vitality 100 and Oral-B Vitality Pro.

Either one is ideal if you are looking for a very cheap electric toothbrush, because both are priced below 40 euros. Of course, as you can imagine, they do not have the same technology as other ranges of Oral-B electric toothbrushes, although that does not mean that they are not effective. The brushing technology, that is, the type of movement carried out by the heads, is in both cases double, oscillation and rotation.

On the other hand, the Oral-B Vitality Pro has one more replacement head than its rival, although not in all its models, and that always improves the value for money. In addition, there is a quite practical and simple way to check when it is convenient to change it, and we are going to tell you about it in this article. Another quite obvious difference is aesthetics, since the design changes between the two brushes.

However, beyond these differences, the truth is that we are dealing with two very similar models, which many users choose for their first contact with an electric toothbrush. Throughout the article, we will explain what are the most important similarities and differences. Take note!

The aesthetic changes

Oral-B Vitality Pro vs Vitality 100

At first glance, it is easy to distinguish the two models of the Oral-B Vitality series, since the design is different. The Oral-B Vitality 100 is available in blue, white, and black, though the part of the brush that changes is the top of the grip, as the rest is white. Also, the heads are completely white, and there are no other buttons apart from the power button.

In the case of the Oral-B Vitality Pro, the color covers practically the entire brush, and not a single part as it happens with the 100. In this case, the chromatic options among which we can choose are lilac, white and black. In fact, even the button is impregnated with the same color, which makes color a more important factor in this model as it takes up the entire handle. In addition, in the black model, we also find that the head is of this color, while the heads that the white and lilac models have are white.

2D brushing technology and brushing modes

In case you are not very familiar with Oral-B terminology, let us tell you that Oral-B Vitality share the same brushing technology, which the brand calls 2D. This is because it combines two actions, oscillation and rotation, to achieve greater efficiency than with a manual toothbrush. That is to say, the heads combine the movements of oscillation and rotation, although they do not have the vibration that other brushes of more advanced ranges do.

However, although the brushing technology is the same in both cases, the brushing modes change. Actually, we cannot say that the Oral-B Vitality 100 has brushing modes, because it only has 1, the daily cleaning one. Instead, the Oral-B Vitality Pro has 3 modes, being able to choose between Daily Clean, Sensitive and Sensitive Plus.

How long does the battery last?

Oral-B Vitality 100 vs Vitality Pro

It should be noted that the autonomy of electric toothbrushes is limited as long as the brush does not rest on the plugged-in base, at which time charging begins. And, between the two models that are the stars of this review, it is an important difference. The Oral-B Vitality 100 has an approximate autonomy of 20 minutes, which is equivalent to about 5 days of use if you use it twice a day. On the other hand, the Oral-B Vitality Pro increases this autonomy to about 10 days, approximately, since it lasts about 40 minutes.

One of the downsides that both brushes have is the time it takes to charge if the battery dies. In the case of Oral-B Vitality 100, we are talking about 16 hours, while in Oral-B Vitality Pro they increase to 22. Although, in reality, this is not usually an exclusion argument, because the most common thing is to leave the brush on the plugged base after each use, so that it is always at 100% charge.

Sensors and technology

As we told you at the beginning, the Vitality range is the most basic Oral-B range, and this means that neither of the two electric toothbrushes we are analyzing find great technological features. In fact, they do not have a pressure sensor, nor light indicators, nor an interactive screen. They also do not offer Bluetooth connectivity nor can they be synchronized with the Oral-B mobile app.

What they do share is the built-in timer, so every 30 seconds the brush vibrates so you know how long you’ve been brushing your teeth. This allows you to track time until you reach 2 minutes, which is the time recommended by specialists.

How to know when the head is changed?

Oral-B Vitality 100 vs Pro

We start from the premise that neither the Oral-B Vitality 100 nor the Pro have a head change reminder system like the one we find in other models. However, the brand itself reports a way to know the moment in which we must change the head to maintain the same effectiveness.

And it does so in the Oral-B Vitality Pro, whose head changes color when it is already very worn to indicate that it is time to change. In fact, it goes from green to yellow when it’s time to renew it. Of course, the two models that we have chosen only have one head, although there are versions of the Vitality Pro that include two replacement heads.

Oral-B Vitality 100 vs Vitality Pro: Which one is more worth it?

Now that you know what the specific characteristics of both electric toothbrushes are, it’s time to decide which one to stay with. In this case, the economic difference is not a fundamental decisive aspect, since the price is quite affordable in both cases. That said, we must take into account the practical differences, which are quite a few.

The Oral-B Vitality Pro has three brushing modes, while the Vitality 100 only offers a single mode. On the other hand , the Pro model doubles the autonomy of use of the 100 model, since it lasts 5 more days. Of course, it takes longer to recharge, but as the usual practice is to leave it in the plugged-in base, this would not be a problem. On the other hand, we like the design proposed by the Oral-B Vitality Pro better, whose handle is completely colored.

Apart from this, the two electric toothbrushes have a 2-minute timer, and they vibrate every 30 seconds as a warning. And, when it comes to sensors and technology, they are just as simple, they do not incorporate any advanced features in this regard. Therefore, think about what your preferences are to choose which of the two best suits them, although our opinion is that the Oral-B Vitality Pro is better value for money.
