Smartwatches are following the same line of growth and diversification that we once saw in phones, and they are becoming increasingly important in our daily lives due to the advanced functionalities they integrate. So much so that, practically, reporting the time is the least important thing about these smart watches. Nowadays, we look for smartwatches with which we can optimize our daily training, listen to music or answer calls and messages, among other things. In this article, we compare three models that are highly demanded by marketplace users: Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 vs Amazfit GTR 4.

In general terms, we will tell you that the first two smartwatches have a higher price than the Amazfit. A difference that, as you will see, is justified by the absence of some technologies such as Near Field Communication (NFC), compatibility with WiFi and the use of a different operating system. The key is to assess whether they are differences that make it worth betting on the Ticwatch or Samsung watches or, on the other hand, the Amazfit has a better quality-price ratio.

First of all, let us clarify that, for this comparison, we have taken these three specific models as reference. And, in the case of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, we have chosen the smallest version, the 40 mm one. Therefore, the specifications that you are going to see are those of said model, which is also the most economical. Are you ready to check which smartwatch is more interesting? Go for it!

A design with similarities

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 vs Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Amazfit GTR 4

Aesthetically, although it is easy to distinguish each of the three models, the truth is that there are quite a few similarities between them. Everyone is betting on a round dial and an interchangeable strap, although we will most likely see it made of silicone. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 has a much thinner bezel than the Ticwatch and Amazfit smartwatches, whose aesthetics are sportier, making it lighter to the touch. As for colors, the range is quite similar in all cases, with black, gray and brown as the main alternatives.

If we look at the screen, we see that it is once again the Samsung watch that differs from the remaining two. In this case, because the screen in its standard version is somewhat smaller, 1.3 inches (although there is another 1.5 inch), compared to the 1.43 inches of the Ticwatch and Amazfit. As you can see, the difference is not much, but in such small devices, it is more noticeable. Therefore, the absence of a bezel and the smaller dial contribute to making it a lighter smartwatch. What the three spheres do have in common is that they have an AMOLED screen.

In the battery there are more differences

One of the aspects where the three smartwatches differ the most is in the battery capacity and, therefore, in terms of autonomy. Although, to be fair, battery life doesn’t just depend on capacity, other factors come into play. The use we make of the watch, whether or not we activate the energy saving mode, or if we use the GPS, for example.

The Ticwatch Pro 5 is the smartwatch with the highest battery capacity, reaching 628 mAh. This, for a smartwatch, is a fairly high parameter, allowing it to achieve just over 3 days of battery life in smart mode and 45 days in basic mode. In the Amazfit GTR 4 this time is reduced to about 14 days, because the battery has 475 mAh capacity.

And, in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, it has about 40 hours of battery life, with 300 mAh capacity. Be careful, because that is in the small version of the Samsung; If you choose the 44 mm one, the battery amounts to 425 mAh, more similar to the performance of the Amazfit. It should be noted that the Amazfit, on the other hand, does not have a fast charging option, being the one that takes the longest to charge of all.

sports performance

Amazfit GTR 4 vs Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 6

One of the most common uses that we usually make of smartwatches is to measure our sports performance, and it is also one of the differences between our three protagonists. Theoretically, the Amazfit GTR 4 is the one with the most sports modes to choose from, a total of 154, of which there are 8 that it is capable of intelligently recognizing. Plus, it stores all the data so you can see full reports on all your activity. In general, the Amazfit is especially recommended for those who practice cycling or athletics, because the GPS synchronization works really well when it comes to tracking the route in real time.

For its part, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 has about 90 sports modes, and you can establish different intensity zones depending on the activity you do. However, in this smartwatch we miss the route training function, which we do find (each in its own way) in the other two smartwatches. Finally, the Ticwatch Pro 5 has 100 sports modes and is designed to develop a personalized training plan based on the physical conditions recorded through its sensors.

In addition, all three have a resistance of 5 ATM, which means that they can withstand approximately 50 meters of depth. However, the Amazfit GTR 4 shows less resistance to dust, since, while the Ticwatch and the Samsung have an IP68 resistance rating, the Amazfit falls somewhat further behind.

Advanced health sensors in all three models

We are now talking about the sensors that each smartwatch incorporates to monitor health, and in this sense, we have to say that they are quite equal. All of them can analyze the different sleep phases, and have sensors capable of controlling such important parameters as blood oxygen saturation, heart rate and its anomalies, or stress level, among other issues.

The Ticwatch Pro 5 has an option with which you can see 5 important health metrics in three seconds, and that allows you to get an idea of your physical state at that moment. The only thing we don’t like about this smartwatch is that it doesn’t track the menstrual cycle, something its two rivals do.

The Samsung watch has its bioelectric impedance analysis sensor, which collects data from other sensors such as heart rate or blood pressure and analyzes it. And, for its part, the Amazfit GTR 4 incorporates BioTracker, a sensor that collects 30% more information than the previous version. With it, you will have constant information on your heart rate, stress level or blood oxygen saturation.

Does the processor change?

Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 vs Amazfit GTR 4

Yes, although, in this sense, we cannot talk about the processor without referring to the operating system. Both the Ticwatch Pro 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 are based on the Wear OS operating system, which is Google’s, while the Amazfit GTR 4 has the Zepp OS system. In general, we recognize that synchronization with other devices is easier with the Zepp OS operating system, although it is true that the Wear OS system allows you greater synchronization with all applications in the Google environment.

Regarding the processor, Amazfit has not revealed what processor the GTR 4 has, but we do know that the Samsung has its Exynos processor and the Ticwatch has a Snapdragon. The performance is quite similar, although we stick with Snapdragon, with which we usually optimize the battery better.

Other technological features

Another aspect that we can look at is the set of added features that smartwatches include. All of them allow you to play music, because they can be connected to your smartphone, and they have a system that detects if you suffer a fall. However, the Amazfit GTR 4 does not support NFC technology, so it does not allow contactless payments.

Otherwise, all three have quite similar features: answer calls, show the calendar, activate the stopwatch or check the weather forecasts, among other things. It should be noted that in all of them you can configure synchronization with a voice assistant, as well as with a mobile app.

Ticwatch Pro 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 vs Amazfit GTR 4: Which smartwatch do we choose?

The time has come to choose which smartwatch we choose, and the truth is that it is not an easy decision. On the one hand, the Amazfit lacks some issues that, for us, add points, such as contactless payment technology or the absence of a more “Google-friendly” operating system (because, in our case, we work a lot with this environment ). However, its quality-price ratio is very good, and its performance when it comes to monitoring physical activity has pleasantly surprised us. Above all, when practicing outdoor sports, especially cycling and athletics.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is fine, although, comparing it with the Ticwatch Pro 5, we would stick with this model. Not only because the autonomy lasts much longer, but because the processor it has makes its performance better. It doesn’t have cycle tracking, but that’s not a relevant issue for us either. And, between these two smartwatches, the price difference is smaller.

Therefore, the answer will depend on what the priority aspects are for you. Amazfit has been the surprise in terms of quality-price ratio, while Ticwatch has managed to equal, and in many cases surpass, Samsung. Therefore, think about what your preferences are and, based on them, choose the smartwatch that best suits you.
